Following the controversial Super Bowl performance of Maroon 5, frontman Adam Levine took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the performance. While he might not have had the time to go through what the internet had to say about the performance, Levine thanked his fans and the critics for such a big opportunity. Alongside a photo that highlights a light display with the words, "One Love", Levine stated how historic this opportunity to play on the world's biggest stage was.

He said, "When we accepted the responsibility to perform at the SBHTS, I took out my pen and just wrote. Some of the words that came to me in that moment eventually made their way onto the incredible lanterns that flew high and low tonight. We thank the universe for this historic opportunity to play on the world’s biggest stage. We thank our fans for making our dreams possible. And we thank our critics for always pushing us to do better. One Love. ❤️"

Along with this, he concluded the post with a list of words that included, "Forgive, Laugh, Cry, Smile, Share, Live, Endure, Embrace, Remember, Enlighten, Preserve, Inspire, Sweat, Fight, Express, Give, Receive, Elevate, Climb, Unify, Fortify, Soften, Dance, Scream, Dream, Educate, Provide, Inhale, Exhale, Persevere, Stand, Kneel, Overcome, Love and Listen."

Perhaps Levine didn't know how his performance was received by fans and netizens. Because a lot of people had a lot to say about the performance, starting from his fashion pick for the night which resembled sofa and cushion covers to him stripping off his shirt and baring it all for the audience to go back to the Janet Jackson controversy.
