Naomi Watts surely has rough luck in terms of getting her hands on a big project, only to lose it later. Right after the final season of Game of Thrones concluded, HBO made an announcement that they will be working on several prequels of characters and houses from the fantasy drama. That included a project which will star Naomi Watts while Jane Goldman penned down the script. But turns out that is not happening anymore. As per reports, Goldman has been sending out emails to the cast and crew of the project, intimating them about the omission of the project from HBO's list. Game Of Thrones Prequel To Be Called House Of The Dragon, HBO Show Might Be Based on Fire and Blood
Created by Kingsman scribe and George RR Martin, the prequel takes place 1000s of years before all the drama with wars, romance and dragons unfolded with Emilia Clarke and Kit Harrington. Turns out, back in June 2018 itself, Goldman's prequel received a green light and only this year, did they finalise Naomi as the showrunner. Interestingly, later in September, HBO also gave Martin and Ryan Condal's second prequel project an unofficial green signal. Their project goes 300 years behind time to unravel the beginning of the end for House Targaryen. You've probably learnt about this that the House of the Dragon prequel has received an official green signal from the studio and is good to go. Blame it on lengthy post-production which includes re-editing of initial cuts, rumours about issues in terms of filming in North Ireland, to point out a few concerns. Speaking about the House of the Dragon prequel, HBO's programming president Casey Bloys quoted, "The Game of Thrones universe is so rich with stories. We look forward to exploring the origins of House Targaryen and the earlier days of Westeros along with Miguel, Ryan and George.”
