Grammy Awards 2019 sure seemed to be a gamechanger for female musicians since Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa and Cardi B won big awards. The American rapper didn't just win her first ever Grammy but also became a first solo woman to win an award for a rap album. 'Invasion of Privacy' has been Cardi's debut album and she competed with the likes of Travis Scott, Nipsey Hussle and the late Mac Miller to get this win.

Whilst receiving the award, Cardi could not hold back her tears and spoke about her daughter and pregnancy and how she dealt with it during the making of her winning album. She said, "I’m not just saying thank you because she’s my daughter. It’s because, you know, when I found out I was pregnant, my album was not complete, like three songs that I was for sure having. And then you know, you know how it was, we was like, we have to get this album done so I could still do videos while I’m still not showing. And it was very long nights.”

Here's Cardi B's acceptance speech at Grammy Awards:

Prior to Cardi, singer-songwriter, rapper, Lauryn Hill had won record of the year and album of the year, for her rap performance as a part of the group Fugees. Apart from Cardi B, other female rappers such as Iggy Azalea and Nicky Minaj have been nominated in the past in the same category. Grammys 2019: Lady Gaga Wins Big; Takes Home the Award for Best Pop Solo Performance for Her Song ‘Joanne’ at the Pre-Show Ceremony
