The award ceremonies do have a great impact on people, especially in the age of extensive use of social media. Such shows see a galaxy of stars from the film industry who have a potential to not just impress people with their fashion choices but influence with their words too. Golden Globes 2020 was one such platform that was put to right use by the Hollywood celebs to address the grave situations that are faced by the world collectively. From terrible bushfires in Australia, politics between the US and Iran to women's right to choose, every sensitive topic was touched here. It is indeed endearing when the known people from the industry take notice of such alarming issues and take a stand for the same, UNAPOLOGETICALLY. After all, these are the personalities who are looked upon with a high regard and as icons by the millions of the followers. If they don't voice their opinion, it would be a shame to the position that they are enjoying right now; the position from where they can be heard easily.

The heart wrenching fire in Australia and the rapid climate change was addressed by many. Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe, Ellen DeGeneres, Phoebe Waller-Bridge were some of the celebs who expressed their concern about the same at the ceremony. 'Joker' star Joaquin Phoenix appreciated Golden Globes 2020's 'strictly veg' theme this year, owing to the calamities. He said, "It’s a very bold move, making tonight plant-based. It really sends a powerful message to my fellow nominees. We all know there’s no f***ing contest."

On the other hand, Patricia Arquette emphasized on the importance of voting. It was in reference to the growing political tension between The US and Iran post Iran’s Gen Qassim Suleimani's assassination. "We will see a country on the brink of war, the United States of America, a president tweeting out a threat of 52 bombs including cultural sites, young people risking their lives traveling across the world, people not knowing if bombs are going to drop on their kids’ heads. I beg of us all to give them a better world for our kids and their kids,” she expressed.

Michelle Williams urged the women to choose and vote as everyone has the equal 'right to choose.' "Women, 18 to 118, when it is time to vote, please do so in your own self-interest. It’s what men have been doing for years, which is why the world looks so much like them. But don’t forget, we are the largest voting body in this country. Let’s make it look more like us," were her encouraging words here.

Indeed, the 77th annual Golden Globes ceremony has turned into a more fruitful show than it was expected to be. While most of the shows take away the gossips like 'who wore what' and 'who arrived with whom', this one sure stood out and the celebs should be credited to make the most of the platform!
