Golden Globe Awards 2019 LIVE Updates: Bohemian Rhapsody Wins Best Motion Picture!

Right after a Best Actor win for Rami Malek, Bohemian Rhapsody's team returns together to take home the Best Motion Picture trophy!

Rami Malek wins his first Golden Globe for his performance of Freddie Mercury in the Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody. The award is presented by Julianne Moore and Richard Gere. "I am beyond moved," says Malek as he accepts the award. He added, "My heart is pounding out of my chest right now. This is a profound honour to receive this, and to be counted amongst such extraordinary actors.” He concluded the speech by thanking Brian May, Roger Taylor and "Thank you, Freddie Mercury, for giving me the joy of a lifetime. I love you, you beautiful man.”

Glenn Close snags the Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion picture - Drama - for the wife. In her emotional acceptance speech, she dedicated the award to her mother. "We have to follow our dreams. We have to say, 'I can do that and I should do that!'"

Peter Farrelly's Green Book takes home the coveted Best Motion Picture The whole cast comes up on stage to celebrate the same. The film stars Vigo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali. In his speech, Farrelly explains the premise of the film, “Don Shirley was a great man, and an underappreciated genius, who couldn’t play the music he wanted to play simply because of the colour of his skin...during that trip with Dr. Shirley, [Tony] grew and evolved more than most families do over several generations. This story, when I heard it, gave me hope, and I wanted to share that hope with you.”

British actress Olivia Coleman receives the Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy for The Favourite. She is presented the award by Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain.

The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story receives the award for Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. 

Emily Blunt escorts Dick Van Dyke to the stage to present their film, Mary Poppins. Dick Van Dyke receives a standing ovation as everyone pays their respect to the legendary actor. 

The Kominsky Method wins Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy. The show stars Michael Douglas, Alan Arkin, Nancy Travis and Susan Sullivan. Creator Chuck Lorre left super emotional as he gives his speech thanking the awards for acknowledging The Kominsky Method. "This doesn't happen to me! This is an extraordinary acknowledgement. I've been doing this a long time and I'm up here trembling like a leaf."

For the Best Actress In a TV Series - Musical and Comedy, the cast of This Is Us, Sterling K Brown, Chrissy Metz and Justin Hartley take over the stage. With a strong nomination list, the award goes to Emmy Award winner, Rachel Brosnahan for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Jeff Bridges is followed by Harrison Ford, who is the next presenter. Before heading to the awards category, Ford expresses his respect for the actor. Ford announces the Best Director - Motion Picture award, which goes to Alfonso Cuarón for Roma.

As his acceptance speech, Bridges starts his list of thank yous by stating, “I’m so challenged up here because there are so many people to thank." In his speech, Bridges thanked his parents and expressed how he is wearing his late father, Lloyd Bridges. “We’re alive! We can make a difference! We can turn this ship in the way we want to go!” 

After the inauguration of the Cecil B. DeMille Award category to celebrate the lifetime achievers in the industry, the first recipient is none other than Jeff Bridges! Chris Pine presents the award.

Hard to agree with Andy Samberg on this one. To introduce the next presenter, Andy calls Chris Pine (yes, the blue-eyed Hollywood boy) a butt ugly face. The irony is hilarious! 

Darren Criss of The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story continues his winning streak by taking home the Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television! The award is presented by Amber Heard and Taron Egerton.

Netflix's Roma wins Best Motion PIcture - Foreign Language. The award for the same is presented by Catherine Zeta-Jonas and Antonio Banderas.

Christian Bale takes home the Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy for his role in Vice. In his speech, Bale thanks his wife by stating, "To my beautiful wife, who said saying less is more. She knows some of the dumb crap that comes out of my mouth," and concludes the speech by "Thank you to Satan, who gave me inspiration on how to play this role."

Sharp Objects actress Patricia Clarkson, who took home the Golden Globe tropphy for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television won more than just the award. In her acceptance speech, she thanked her director for "demanded everything of me, except for sex, which is how it should be."

Nick Vallelonga, Brian Currie, and Peter Farrelly win big as Green Book takes home the Best Screenplay for a Motion Picture award. However, ahead of the award, as a mock to the Emmy proposal stunt, Maya Rudolph reinvents it by proposing to Amy Poehler.

To announce the next category of award, Maya Rudolph and Amy Poehler take the centre stage. The Golden Globe for Best Actor by a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture goes to Mahershala Ali for his performance in Green Book. It's his first Golden Globe win and second nomination.

Host for the evening, Sandra Oh, received the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series (Drama) for Killing Eve. The overwhelmed actress had the cutest acceptance speech where she thanked her family.
