Rami Malek wins his first Golden Globe for his performance of Freddie Mercury in the Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody. The award is presented by Julianne Moore and Richard Gere. "I am beyond moved," says Malek as he accepts the award. He added, "My heart is pounding out of my chest right now. This is a profound honour to receive this, and to be counted amongst such extraordinary actors.” He concluded the speech by thanking Brian May, Roger Taylor and "Thank you, Freddie Mercury, for giving me the joy of a lifetime. I love you, you beautiful man.”

Glenn Close snags the Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion picture - Drama - for the wife. In her emotional acceptance speech, she dedicated the award to her mother. "We have to follow our dreams. We have to say, 'I can do that and I should do that!'"

Peter Farrelly's Green Book takes home the coveted Best Motion Picture The whole cast comes up on stage to celebrate the same. The film stars Vigo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali. In his speech, Farrelly explains the premise of the film, “Don Shirley was a great man, and an underappreciated genius, who couldn’t play the music he wanted to play simply because of the colour of his skin...during that trip with Dr. Shirley, [Tony] grew and evolved more than most families do over several generations. This story, when I heard it, gave me hope, and I wanted to share that hope with you.”

I've been doing this a long time and I'm up here trembling like a leaf."

The biggest award season of Hollywood has kicked off with the Golden Globe Awards. The 76th Golden Globe Awards, held at The Beverly Hilton hall, is being hosted by Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh. Celebrities have already started waltzing on the red carpet with some impeccable looks and ensembles. The nominations for the awards have been quite competitive in the entertainment sphere as last year saw some brilliant movies, TV shows and acts by Hollywood.
