Game of Thrones has ended. The show aired the final episode of its eighth season today and with that, we bid farewell to 11-years worth of journey. The most shocking turn of events - and there have been many on this show - was Jon Snow stabbing Daenerys Targaryen to bring her madness to an end. This was the second time the love of his life had died. When Emilia Clarke, the actress who plays the Daenerys, read the script, she walked out of her house and kept walking for five hours developing blisters on her feet. The actor who plays Jon, Kit Harrington, on the other hand, did not read the script beforehand. He only learnt the fate of his character on the table reading in front of the entire cast. In an interview with EW, Emilia revealed that she sat across Kit, at the table read, to “watch him compute all of this.” Talking about reading the murderous moment on pages, Kit added, “I looked at Emilia and there was a moment of me realizing, ‘No, no…’”
“He was crying,” Clarke said. “And then it was kind of great him not having read it.” Game of Thrones 8 Finale: From the Dragon Queen to Jon Snow – All the Characters Who Reached the Last Episode and What Happened to Them! (SPOILER ALERT).
Emilia further added that she was shocked to learn Daenerys' fate despite having clues throughout the season. She revealed that she called her family members after reading the script, and without revealing anything, asked them if Daenerys was a good person. The actress also revealed that over the past 11 years, showrunners would often ask her to go off-character for a scene, something a heroic Dany won't do. It is only after reading the final script that Emilia understood the true meaning of those times.
