When the first trailer of Hobbs and Shaw dropped, we thought it was as Fast and as Furious it gets. The movie opens in theatres this Friday and from the reviews, it seems that the film has lived up to the hype created by the promos. The action entertainer has majorly received positive reviews. Even the critics who point out a bazillion flaws in the movie agree that it was enjoyable, nevertheless. The movie is a spin-off of Fast and Furious, and focussed on a side-adventure of the two characters, as the title suggests Hobbs and Shaw. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johson and Jason Statham slip into the characters once again. Here is what the critics are saying about the film. Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw Movie Review: Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham Give the Finger to Physics in This Slick, Entertaining Action-Comedy.

IGN wants the movie to be categorised as an action-comedy. They wrote, "The Fast & the Furious flicks have gotten lighter and funnier as they’ve gone along, but Hobbs & Shaw might be the first that could properly be labelled an action-comedy. A lot of what these two do on screen together is funny, even if most of the jokes boil down to who can flex their muscles harder and who purportedly has bigger privates," Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham’s Hobbs & Shaw Final Trailer Reveals an Epic Chase Sequence – Watch Video.

The Guardian gave the movie 3 stars out of 5 and wrote, "[Hobbs and Shaw] gives us a fair bit of gonzo action, a hair-raising London chase scene, some transatlantic alpha-male squabbling, a cheerfully silly plot MacGuffin – and for the first two thirds, the whole thing hums like a hi-tech top. The movie is a bit overextended, and the action runs out of steam in the final battle, but it delivers some bangs and laughs for your buck,"

Forbes called the movie fun. "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is exactly what its title promises. It’s big and dumb without insulting its audience. It’s cartoonishly silly while still taking its character arcs seriously. It’s both at home in the Fast & Furious series and its own thing. It trips up, especially in the first act, trying to justify itself as a stand-alone franchise.," they wrote.

But all reviewers did not enjoy the film. Some actually disliked the film quite a lot. Take away, IndieWire. They wrote, "Overloaded with hit-or-miss action sequences, a half-baked supervillain, and paint-by-numbers plotting about a virus with the potential to destroy the world, Hobbs & Shaw often struggles to surmount the low bar of today's blockbuster standards. But at the center of it, Johnson and Statham inhabit a higher plane, with such alluring chemistry as their hatred pulls them together it's a wonder they don't just get a room."

Variety basically asked the audience to leave their brains at home to enjoy Hobbs and Shaw. They wrote, "You may enter a film like this one believing you had some grasp of how gravity works, or the human threshold for pain, or what constitutes a good movie, but the experience is so exhilaratingly mind-altering, so radically untethered from terra firma, you have to readjust your basic understanding of everything you know to be true in order to tag along for the ride,"

So, there is that. Despite the fact that Hobbs and Shaw does not follow the laws of gravity at all, critics have loved the movie. Even the harshest of critics have admitted that despite the flaws, the movie is very enjoyable. That is what we call a Hollywood masala entertainer.
