The Fast & Furious franchise gets its first official spin-off (Tokyo Drift is still considered part of the main canon) in the form of Hobbs & Shaw. Focussing on the characters played by Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw brings them together for an adventure that keeps Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and co out of the scene, and perhaps start a new franchise with them altogether. Knowing the ice-cold vibes that Johnson and Diesel share, it could be a really good idea, especially since the trailers are making the spin-off look so good. Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham’s Hobbs & Shaw Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi Trailers Are LIT – Watch Video

The makers have released a new trailer that is more expansive than the first one, with more focus on humour while not compromising on the action scenes. The trailer of Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw impresses in the first scene itself when Hobbs and Shaw battle two different sets of goons in parallel rooms. With The Rock and The Stat displaying amazing bonhomie even in their oneupmanship, the trailer gives out a sense of crazy fun.

Sure, it spoils a lot of scenes for the viewers, but the trailer also lets us know that we will get to know more of the family side of both the lead characters. While we have seen Shaw's mother (Helen Mirren, making a return here) in the last instalment, we find out that he has a sister too. The talented Vanessa Kirby is given a lot to do in the new trailer, reworking the issue the first promo had where she was more of a passenger. Idris Elba also has some fun scenes in the trailer as the genetically enhanced villain, who, in what is his best moment in the promo, calls himself 'Black Superman'.

However, the highlight for me, is getting to know Hobbs' hilarious Hawaiin family, who had a stash of ammunition in their house.

Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw is directed by David Leitch, who is most popularly known for making Deadpool 2. Here's the official synopsis of the film - "Ever since hulking lawman Hobbs (Johnson), a loyal agent of America's Diplomatic Security Service, and lawless outcast Shaw (Statham), a former British military elite operative, first faced off in 2015’s Fast & Furious 7, the duo have swapped smack talk and body blows as they’ve tried to take each other down.

But when cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist Brixton (Idris Elba) gains control of an insidious bio-threat that could alter humanity forever — and bests a brilliant and fearless rogue MI6 agent (The Crown’s Vanessa Kirby), who just happens to be Shaw’s sister — these two sworn enemies will have to partner up to bring down the only guy who might be badder than themselves." Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw releases on August 2.
