The 2019 Emmys was quite a starry night with who's who from the Hollywood industry making their presence felt. Right from Billy Porter creating history to Game of Thrones snatching the limelight with the number of awards won, the gala event was quite a spectacular one. Also on the style front, many celebrities sashayed down the purple carpet in their simplistic and extravagant best. However, going by a few reports surfacing on the web, it is said that Emmys this year delivered an all-time low in the ratings. Yup, you read that right. Reportedly, if the early numbers are to believed then this year's Emmy is off by double digits from a year ago. Also for the unversed, this is the not the first the ratings of Emmys have dipped this low. Infact, this is the second consecutive year when Emmys ratings has been affected and is facing a downfall. Talking about numbers, preliminary digits have the awards at a 5.7 household rating in metered markets, which was 7.4 percent back in 2018. However, the reason to the ratings sink is yet not unknown.

Talking about the winners from the night, it was GOT with a terrific win as the team took home 12 trophies, followed by HBO’s Chernobyl with 10 trophies and finally Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel with eight. But well, the highlight of the night was surely Michelle Williams' moving speech in her maiden Emmys win which was all about equal pay for women in the entertainment industry. Williams won the Emmy Award for outstanding lead actress in a limited TV series or movie for Fosse/Verdon.
