Emmy Awards 2018 Live Blog: Game Of Thrones Wins The Final Award Of The Night, Best Drama Series!

The much awaited 70th Emmy Awards has officially kickstarted and is going live right now in Los Angeles where television's biggest faces are huddled up.

The much awaited 70th Emmy Awards has officially kickstarted and is going live right now in Los Angeles where television's biggest faces are along with some start performers from the music industry, performing on stage.

The hosts for the night, Michael Che and Colin Jost, take centre stage. So far there is a lot of talks regarding white and black that the Awards have often been criticised for. This year, for the first time, they have a female nomination of an Asian female. The first black person to have broken the Emmy inhibitions of no-Black celebrity winning the show was Sterling K Brown back in 2017 for This Is Us.

This year Netflix has managed to score maximum nominations on the list while the other big shows that have been nominated are Westworld, Game Of Thrones, This Is Us, Handmaid's Tale, Blackish and more.

5:40: Hosts for the night, Michael Che and Colin Jost take to the stage and pass on quite a lot of snide comments on race and black discrimination.

5:47: Henry Winkle takes home the trophy for Best Supporting Actor In a Comedy. The award was presented by Claire Foy and Matt Smith.

5:52: Jimmy Kimmel presents the trophy for Best Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series to Alex Borstein.

5:56: Millie Bobby Brown and Emilia Clarke announce the award for Best Writer to Amy Sherman Palladino, who wrote and directed The Marvellous Mrs Maisel.

5:58: Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh announce the Best Director of a Comedy series which is awarded to Amy Sherman-Palladino.

6:05: Tiffany Haddish and Angela Basset present the award for the Best Lead Actress In Comedy Series to Rachel Roshnahan for The Marvellous Mrs Maisel.

6:09: Michael Douglas presents the Best Lead Actor in Comedy Series which goes to Bill Hader for Barry.

6:15: The Best Supporting Actress In A Limited Series is being awarded by EGOT winner John Legend and wife Chrissy Teigen to Merritt Wever for Godless.

6:22: Kit Harington and Constance Wu take the stage to present the next award, that is Best Supporting Actor In A Limited Series, to Jeff Daniels for his performance in Godless.

6:27: Black Mirror writers William Bridges, Charlie Brooker take home the Best Writer trophy for U.S.S. Callister.

6:33: Kate McKinnon and Alec Baldwin honour television's favourite celebrity Betty White as she takes the podium to share a speech. She receives a huge applause from an enthusiastic crowd.

6:38: James Cordon presents the next award for Best Directing of a Limited Series to Ryan Murphy for The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.

6:42: The Best Actress Lead for Limited series goes to Regina King for Seven Seconds. The shock on her face is a sight to the sore eyes!

6:46: Rachel Brosnahan announces the next award, that is for Best Actor Lead for Limited series which goes to Darren Criss for his extraordinary performance in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.

6:52: Michael Che presents Emmy Reparation awards to some of the best Black comedians.

6:55: John Mulaney receives the award for Writing For A Variety Special, Kid Gorgeous at Radio City.

7:00: Sterling K Brown with his onscreen This Is Us father presents the Best Director for Variety Series to Glenn Weiss for The Oscars. While accepting his award, he actually proposes to his girlfriend!

7:07: Tina Fey is in the house! Addressing the lives lost in the television industry, Tina presents the video of all the famous celebrities who passed away this year.

7:08: The memoriam film features Anthony Bourdain, Aretha Franklin, Harry Anderson, Bernie Casey, Della Reese, Jerry Van Dyke, Craig Zadan, Reg E. 7:18: Samantha B and Taraji P Henson present the award for Supporting Lead In Drama Series which goes to Peter Dinklage for Game of Thrones.

7:21: The Emmy for Supporting Actress in a Drama Series goes to Thandie Newton for Westworld.

7:22: Newton drops the F-bomb while accepting her award for Best Supporting Actress.

7:27: Joel Fields, Joe Weisberg win the Best Writing For A Drama Series for The Americans. Gina Rodriguez of Jane The Virgin, presents the award to the writers.

7:32: Stephen Daldry takes home the Best Director For Drama Series trophy for his phenomenal work in The Crown.

7:38: The Fab Five of Queer Eye present the award for Best Actor Lead in Drama Series. The award goes to Matthew Rhys for The Americans.

7:41: To present the Best Actress Lead In Drama Series, the Emmy's roped in Sarah Paulson. She awarded the same to Claire Foy for The Crown. Claire dedicated her award to co-star Matt Smith.

7:49: The Chairman of the television academy took to the stage to share a few words about the successful 70 years stint of the Emmy Awards.

7:57: Rick and Morty (yes, the animated characters) are awarding the Best Reality Competition-Series, which RuPaul's Drag Race has won!

8:00: Saturday Night Live wins the best Variety Sketch Series.

8:07: Eric Bana and Connie Brittany present the Emmy for Best Late Night Show which goes to Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. 

8:10: Ben Stiller, Patricia Arquette and Benicio Del Toro announce the Best Drama In Limited Series and the award goes to The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. Director Ryan Murphy along with the whole team take to the stage to receive the award.

8:18: So apt! Comic actor Will Ferell is on the stage to announce the Best Comedy Series. The award goes to The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel.

8:28: Everyone's favourite show, Game of Thrones, takes home the Best Drama Series award, concluding the ceremony.
