Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson revealed in an Instagram video that he is the reason why Shazam! doesn't have Black Adam. Starring Zachary Levi and Asher Angel in the live action Shazam movie, the film was originally supposed to have Black Adam as a villain!
Well, there is a bit of spoiler here for Shazam! fans. Initially, the makers wanted to pit Billy Batson/Shazam against Black Adam (played by Dwayne Johnson). In fact, Johnson was cast ass Black Adam way back in 2014. However, that didn't happen as the original plan for Shazam took a big plot change. Instead, the makers announced that apart from a Shazam standalone where he will be going up against Sivana (Mark Strong), a Black Adam standalone film will also take place. As Johnson celebrated the box office success of Shazam! he revealed that he brought about a change in the original movie plan. The change was suggested to WB chairman Toby Emmerich, who agreed to come up with a Black Adam solo film.

With this, Johnson also confirmed that the production work for the Black Adam will kickstart this year. Considering the fact that Dwayne Johnson has a humongous fanbase with an immense box office pull, it is perhaps a selfish but smart move to give him an entire standalone film instead of making him a supporting lead. Shazam is rocking the box office and making the critics love what DC's new standalone superhero movie has to offer.
Interestingly, separating Black Adam and Shazam would lead to expanding the DC universe's live-action scene more than what it currently holds. We'll soon be seeing more DC superheroes make it to the big screen, demanding attention from all the fans!
