The first teaser trailer of Dark Phoenix has landed and at least, contradicting to other reports, isn't as messy as we expected. But then we did find it a retread of X-Men: The Last Stand, especially in dealing with the character of Jean Grey aka Phoenix. Sophie Turner's mutant is at the forefront of the proceedings here and therefore, the title goes after her. With the fourth entry in the X-Men First Class series, Jean Grey looks to be swayed to the dark side by a mysterious character played by Jessica Chastain. That shift to the dark side has its casualties and we are placing our bets on Jennifer Lawrence's shape-shifting mutant, Mystique. Even the fans are not happy with her version of Mystique, since the character is now completely heroic, instead of being someone with very dark grey shades. So it was always assumed that Mystique would not make it out of the film alive.

The teaser trailer itself hints at that. If you observe closely, Mystique is mysteriously missing from many action scenes. Not just that...

There is a funeral scene in the promo, where Mystique is not seen among the mourners. So is she in the ground?

There is another scene were Beast (Nicholas Hoult) is seen cradling Mystique's face and he seems in pain. Is she dead here?

We also seen him in his human form lashing out at Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) saying it's all his fault. Is he referring to Mystique's death?

Then there is the below scene where Beast seems to have joined Magneto's (Michael Fassbender)'s Brotherhood of Mutants.

...while Mystique is not seen in both the sides.
