Daredevil Cancelled At Netflix After Three Seasons! Deborah Ann Woll Shares an Emotional Note
Daredevil is the latest series to face the axe in Netflix's Marvel takedown.
Daredevil is the latest series to face the axe in Netflix's Marvel takedown. After cancelling Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders the streaming giant has also cancelled Marvel's Daredevil after its highly successful and critically acclaimed third season that debuted in October 2108. Netflix has issued a statement announcing the same but has not commented on the reason for this unexpected takedown. Actress Deborah Ann Woll, of the entire cast and crew, is the only who has responded to the cancellation. We are waiting to hear from Charlie Cox, who played the titular role.
Deborah, who plays Claire Temple in the show, took to her Twitter handle and shared characters posters from Daredevil. In a heartfelt note, she wrote, "I’m so sad that we won’t be continuing this story. Mostly I’ll miss seeing the friends I’ve made everyday. Thank you to every person who contributed to this series over the years. And to @erikoleson because of you we are going out on a high. @Daredevil #Daredevil [sic]"
So, there's that. There will be no season 4 for Daredevil (because Netflix doesn't care about the fans ?). “We are tremendously proud of the show’s last and final season and although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note,” Netflix said in a statement published by Deadline.
“We’re thankful to showrunner Erik Oleson, the show’s writers, stellar crew and incredible cast including Charlie Cox as Daredevil himself, and we’re grateful to the fans who have supported the show over the years. While the series on Netflix has ended, the three existing seasons will remain on the service for years to come, while the Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel.”
While the series might have been cancelled at Netflix, a fan can be hopeful that it'd be picked up by any other network. Be wishful that Daredevil resumes at the upcoming Disney's OTT platform, maybe? Time will tell. For now, farewell, Daredevil.
