The Lego Movie 2 is the sequel to the critically acclaimed animated comedy 2014 film, The Lego Movie. Based on popular geek-lore characters made of Lego bricks, the first movie's success was quite unprecedented and fans were up in arms against the Academy Award jury when it was not nominated for the Best Animated Picture on a mere technicality. We later had a successful spin-off in The Lego Batman, and a not so successful one in The Lego Ninjago Movie. As per official confirmation, The Lego Movie 2 will be released here on February 8, 2019 by Warner Bros. The sequel will bring back the leads of the first film like Emmett (voiced by Chris Pratt), Lucy (voiced by Elizabeth Banks), Batman (voiced by Will Arnett), Unikitty (Alison Brie), Metalbeard (Nick Offerman) and so on. The Lego Movie 2 is directed by Mike Mitchell, who takes reins from Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the directors of the first one (who have written the screenplay for the sequel).

Speaking about the sequel, Mike Mitchell had this to say, “There’s a lot of crazy action and one of a kind characters, and the same irreverent, out of bounds comedy you expect from Chris and Phil that resonates with all ages. Emmet sets off with courage and total commitment but not any real idea where he’s going. It’s everything you loved about the first movie and more!”

Lead actor Chris Pratt further adds, “There are themes about coming together and working together that are really relevant. There’s also a through line about not losing that childlike sense of wonder and the willingness to use your imagination.”
