What actor would let go of a role in the MCU? Well, turns out Chris Pratt totally would. The actor who was popular for playing the goofy Andy Dwyer on Parks and Recreation had refused to audition for a role in Guardians of the Galaxy. The story surfaced at the red carpet of the world premiere of Avengers: Endgame. During an interview, casting director Sarah Finn was asked about the toughest casting she had done for the MCU and she answered Chris Pratt. She revealed that the actor had refused to even audition for the role but while readings with other potential actors, she continued imagining Chris as Peter Quill/Star-Lord from the franchise. Avengers Endgame: 8 Box Office Records Already Broken by The Marvel Film Worldwide.

"James Gunn [director] has been very generous about this in saying that I, to the point of annoying him, kept insisting that Chris Pratt was the guy for the part,” Finn said. Though when she finally convinced Chris to audition, James did not want to see the actor. Avengers Endgame: Robert Downey Jr Continues Teasing Tom Holland for His Struggle to Keep Spoilers to Himself – See Pic.

Finally, the casting director was able to get the actor and the director together for a reading. "It was honestly one of those eureka moments that we talk about in casting when it absolutely feels right and you know it’s right. James turned to me within 10 seconds and said, ‘He’s the guy.'" she said.

Defending Chris' inhibitions playing the role, Sarah added, “At the time we were embarking on a movie that had a racoon and a talking tree, and a property that people weren’t familiar with,”

A Twitter user reshared the interview and asked for an award for Sarah Finn for pulling off this casting. To which Chris, himself, replied that he vouches for the casting story and also thinks Sarah Finn should win an award.

While Marvel might not have officially announced Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Avengers: Endgame does set it up. James Gunn has also been rehired by Disney after being fired earlier. So, you can imagine Chris Pratt continuing to play the loved/hated Peter Quill.
