Brooklyn Nine-Nine fans can't breathe. Can they? Many of us are still reeling over the fact that a channel had the audacity to cancel the show after the fifth season(it got picked up by another channel). Now, add another grievance to the list as the 'Human Embodiment of the 100 Emoji' is leaving the comedy in its sixth season. Chelsea Peretti, who plays Gina Linetti, announced that she is leaving the show. All the fans must be feeling like the human embodiment of the broken heart emoji.

Chelsea made the announcement on her Twitter handle through a thread. She quoted the letter Emmy Rossum wrote when she announced she was leaving Shameless last month, bolding “relevant" parts to describe her feelings on the exit. Thankfully, she did add that this announcement doesn't mean she won't be back. You can expect a few episodes featuring her on season 6. Maybe she will be back to the main role in season 7?

Chelsea recently gave birth to a baby and maybe wants to focus on motherhood for some time now. She had taken a maternity leave during the fifth season and was absent from half of the episodes.

Here Is What Chelsea Peretti Wrote About Her Brooklyn Nine Nine Exit

Showrunner Dan Goor also made a statement on Twitter, saying that "from the moment Mike Schur and I decided to create the show, we wanted Chelsea Peretti to be a part of it, and she always will be. She has brought so much to her amazing, hilarious, unique portrayal of Gina Linetti, which is not surprising since she is one of the funniest people in history. We have tried really hard to create a storyline for her departure that lives up to the character that can only be described as 'The human embodiment of the 100 emoji.' While it's sad to see a member of the family leave, we are so proud of Chelsea and excited for what she does next. Also, I know for a fact this isn't the last we'll see of Gina Linetti. I mean she got run over by a frickin' bus, and she only missed like a week of work."
