He presents himself in front of Iron Man/Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) to talk about the Avengers initiative – yes, the superheroes team for the very first time. His line "You think you're the only superhero in the world? You've become a part of a bigger universe" is like music to our ears.

2. The Incredible Hulk in 2008

The movie starring Edward Norton as Hulk probably had the most forgettable post-credits scene. It showed Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark meet General Thaddeus Ross drinking alone at a bar. He informs Ross who is drowning his sorrows after Abomination in Harlem about putting up a team together. Stark’s says, “we’re putting a team together” referring to the Avengers initiative told in Iron Man after end-credits scene by Nick Fury.

3. Iron Man 2 in 2010

Unlike the previous two post-credit scenes, the cliff-hanger in Iron Man 2 teased fans about the next film of Marvel Cinematic Universe – Thor. It showed Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), Nick Fury’s right-hand man drive in the New Mexico desert and reach a crater site. Coulson is shown calling up his seniors and say, “Sir,” followed by “We've found it,” and the camera pans to reveal what’s present in the crater – Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) Hammer!

4. Thor in 2011

Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury returns in post-credits scenario as he is seen inviting Doctor Erik Selvig (Stellan SkarsgĂ„rd) to S.H.I.E.L.D facilities (read: warehouse). Fury tells Professor Selvig, “Legend tells us one thing, history another. But every now and then we find something that belongs to both,” before opening up a briefcase containing Tesseract (which is a vessel containing the Space Stone). When Selvig asks what it is, Fury answers saying ‘Power, doctor, and if we can figure out how to tap it, maybe unlimited power’. At this point, we see Loki (Tom Hiddleston) make an appearance saying, ‘Well, I guess that’s worth a look’. Doctor Selvig repeats the same line, ‘Well, guess that’s worth a look’ and smirk indicating Loki has got him under his control.

5. Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011

6. The Avengers in 2012

The after-movie credits scene of The Avengers is among the best MCU has offered. It presents not one but two scenes after the Battle of New York finishes in style. It begins with The Other, Thanos’ personal servant informs his master about Loki’s defeat on earth and that challenging earthlings (Avengers) would be courting death to which the purple space warlord smiles. This is the first time we are introduced to Thanos and he looked badass! After Thanos side smirking face, viewers are transported to the New York city with Avengers eating at the Shawarma Palace in total silence after saving the world from Loki and Chitauri Army.

This scene serves as the teaser for MCU’s upcoming movie Guardians of the Galaxy. We also see Thor reunite with Jane (Natalie Portman). As the pair kiss passionately, we also see a beast from Jotunheim roaming on the earth.

9. Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2014

One of the most intriguing after end-credits scenes in MCU was seen in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It showed Baron von Strucker (Thomas Kretschmann) discussing the downfall of S.H.I.E.L.D and Hydra while showing he has got hold of Loki’s Sceptre containing the Mind Stone. Von Strucker also presents the Twins - Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) who were next seen in second Avengers film – Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The cutest post-credits scene ever in the universe of Marvel cinema is the Baby Groot dance. It is seen dancing, moving its little twigs but stopped every single time Drax (Dave Bautista) looked in its direction.

In the other scene from post-credits of the Guardians of the Galaxy, fans see Benicio del Toro’s the Collector sitting at the ruins of his museum getting his face licked by Cosmo, a dog at which Howard the Duck tells him, "What do you let him lick you like that for? Gross!"

Thanos makes a return to the end-credits after 2012’s The Avengers, and he commands attention from viewers. The leader of marauding villains is seen wearing his golden infinity gauntlet (devoid of infinity stones) and say, ‘Fine, I’ll Do It Myself”. Thanos makes this statement in reference to finding the six infinity stones (Mind, Space, Power, Reality, Soul and Time) himself after his pawns have failed to deliver it.

15. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in 2017

Not one, not two, not three but Guardians of Galaxy Vol. 2 had FIVE different sequences/plot points in their post-credits scenes. It starts with Kraglin Obfonteri trying to use Yaka Arrow and end up stabbing Drax’s shoulder. We next see Sylvester Stallone's Starhawk trying to assemble his own team after getting inspired by Yondu Udonta's sacrifice. Next is High Priestess Ayesha informing Sovereign Chambermaid about her creation ‘Adam’ that is capable of destroying the Guardians of the Galaxy. We got Star-Lord/ Peter Quill asking an adolescent Groot to clean his room and not waste time on playing video games and finally Stan Lee makes his special appearance in a fifth and final scene as an informant asking the Watchers to listen to his adventures.

16. Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017

This post-credit scene saw a foe turn into a friend scenario after Adrian Toomes aka Vulture (Michael Keaton) refusing to reveal the identity of Spider-Man (Tom Holland) to revenge-seeking hardcore criminal Mac Gargan (Michael Mando). We move to the second scene in which Captain America (Chris Evans) is making a public service announcement on the virtue of having patience. However, he then says, “waited so long for something so disappointing,” referring to no Infinity War teaser being attached to this movie. LOL.

17. Thor: Ragnarok in 2017

The post-ending scene of Thor: Ragnarok foreshadows the opening scene of Avengers: Infinity War directly. Yes, as Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) discuss of their respective reception back on earth with Thor saying he feels everything is going to work out. Just then Thanos’ Scantuary II ship casts its shadow on them. As the chaos continues, Fury watches Maria turn down into dust and a few seconds later he meets the same end. Right before his final moment, Fury is seen using a pager sort of device which falls down his vanishing hand on the road. It shows a message ‘sending’ and ends with a logo formed on it. The symbol is that of Captain Marvel, the all-time powerful superhero in Marvel universe.
