Captain Marvel Box Office: Brie Larson Starrer Crosses the $1 Billion Mark Globally, Becomes the First Female-led Superhero Film to Achieve this Milestone

Captain Marvel was one of the most-anticipated films of the year. The Brie Larson starrer hit the screens on International Women's Day, March 8 and created a storm with its amazing execution. Despite all the controversies that the film ran into ahead of its release due to the uncalled for negativity. In terms of box office, Captain Marvel has managed to maintain a decent pace for almost a month and the film has now attained the coveted milestone of crossing the $1 billion mark globally and is the first female led super hero film to make it to the coveted club.  DC' female-led Gal Gadot starrer had previously earned approximately $841 million globally.

While Captain Marvel was competing with other Marvel films when it comes to box office records, the film has now become the seventh film by the studio to cross the $1 billion mark. According to reports, the film earned approximately $358 million in North America since its release on March 8, on the other hand, in the Overseas circuit, the film raked in a whopping $645 million.

The hype for Captain Marvel was huge considering it was Marvel's first female superhero lead film. What's special is that Captain Marvel has also become that rare female-led film to achieve this feat. The film has also become the first release of 2019 to cross $1 billion. Well, Marvel now has one of the biggest films on its hands currently, what with the release of Avengers: Endgame being just a few weeks away.
