Can Avengers: EndGame Enter the Billion Dollar Club With Three Hour Runtime? These Films Prove Nothing’s Impossible!

It was recently revealed that Marvel's upcoming superhero ensemble, Avengers: EndGame, is going to have a runtime of three hours and two minutes. This makes EndGame the longest running movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The previous film that held that record in the MCU was Avengers: Infinity War with two hours forty minutes runtime. Marvel fans would surely be happy as this means that directors, Anthony and Joe Russo, are wanting the fans to spend more time with the superheroes, some of whom may be seen for the last time on the big screen. What is Chris Evans Hinting at With the Repeated Jokes About Captain America's Death in Avengers: Endgame?

While the long runtime has made the fans happy, trade experts are worried that it may affect the business of the movie. More than three hours runtime means fewer shows, which can affect the business. Trade experts expect Avengers; EndGame to better the collections of Avengers: Infinity War. With the collection of $2.048 billion, Infinity War is the highest grossing superhero movie of all time and also the only movie to enter the two billion dollar club!

So with EndGame having an additional twenty minutes of runtime, can it fall short of Infinity War's collections? Actually, looking at the history of the box office, there is some need to worry. When you look at all the members of the billion-dollar club at the worldwide box office, there are only two movies that have more than three hours runtime.

One of them happens to be the second highest ranking grosser of all time (after Avatar.  Here are the two films that made more a billion dollars at the global box office with three hours runtime.

With only two movies with three-hour runtime in the billion dollar club is definitely a worrying sign, but we have to remember that Avengers: Endgame is coming with a lot of hype. It is a culmination of 20 odd Marvel movies that came before. So while we are not entirely sure that EndGame may get into the 2 billion dollar club, there is a high chance that the movie can easily get into the billion-dollar club thanks to the fanbase Marvel made worldwide. All they need to do is make a really good film! Avengers: EndGame releases on April 26.
