I made the grave mistake of dragging my friends to watch Transformers: The Last Knight. It goes without saying that I have been banned from picking movies for the lifetime. How am I ever going to convince them to watch Bumblebee now? Because it looks so awesome from the new full-fledged trailer that just dropped today. Call it exaggeration, but the trailer looks more awesome than all the past Transformers movies combined. Bring on the hate.
The new movie takes us back to the '80s when Bumblebee was still learning about humanity and ways to deal with everything around him. A naive Hailee Steinfeld buys a raggedy yellow Beetle on her birthday, which turns out to be the beloved Transformer. Enter, John Cena. The villain of the film (?). Bumblebee is told to save Earth and the humanity. Bumblebee Teaser Trailer: Hailee Steinfeld and John Cena Star in 'Transformers' Spinoff Made By 'Kubo and the Two Strings' Director.
The new Bumblebee trailer has an undercurrent of emotions, maybe because of the nostalgia factor of the '80s. Or maybe because of the heartwarming music playing as the background score. But there is something very strong that will pull you in.
The transformation of the robo-aliens into Earthly automobiles and fighter jets looks cleaner than the previous movies. I mean, you still won't understand what is going where but it is not as jarring as it is in previous movies. Your head won't hurt upon seeing the transformations, to be precise.
There is also a cameo by Optimus Prime, in spirit only though.
The movie also stars Justin Theroux and Angela Bassett who voice the characters, Dropkick and Shatter. The film is set to release in December and will be clashing with DC Comics' Aquaman, which stars Jason Momoa and Amber Heard.
