Marvel is not going to rest itself on the laurels of Black Panther's box office and the anticipation of Avengers: Infinity War. Avengers 4 shoot is still underway and it has already started the promotions of its third release of the year, Ant-Man & The Wasp. Now it has begun the production of their 2019 movie, Captain Marvel.

Academy Award winner Brie Larson will take on the lead role, who is touted as one of the most powerful superheroes in the Marvel universe, if not the most. Captain Marvel is reportedly set in the '90s and shows how Carol Danvers gets her powers. She will also appear in Avengers 4, though there is also a possibility that she might also be seen in Avengers: Infinity War. The principal photography for Captain Marvel has begun in Los Angeles, California, while the movie will also be shot on location in Fresno, California, as well as locations in Louisiana, including Baton Rouge and New Orleans. The movie would be directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, who previously made Mississippi Grind and Half Nelson.

Captain Marvel is reportedly set in the '90s and will feature SHIELD and the Skree. Samuel L Jackson will make a return to the franchise as the SHIELD head Nick Fury, after having last seen in 2015's Avengers: Infinity War. He would be sporting both the eyes in the movie. The makers have also revealed the complete cast of the movie, that includes a couple of surprises. While Jude Law will play an important role in the movie, Captain Marvel also brings back Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson, Lee Pace as Ronan The Accuser and Djimon et Hounsou as Korath.

If you have seen the Marvel movies, you would know that Agent Coulson has died in the first Avengers movie. He was later resurrected for the TV series Agents of SHIELD, but in the movie universe, his character still remains dead. Same goes for Ronan and Korath, both villains in the first Guardians of the Galaxy and had died in the climax. With the '90s era setup, these characters would have been alive then, though their roles in the movie would be surely intriguing.

Ben Mendelsohn is reportedly playing the main antagonist, while the movie will also star Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, and McKenna Grace.

The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.

Captain Marvel is scheduled to release on March 8, 2019.
