In a jolt to fans of foreign films, especially the ones who binges on subtle erotics, Italian film-maker Bernardo Bertolucci has passed away on November 26, as per reports in Italian media. He was 77. The director was in Rome, where he was recuperating from a long illness, and it's here where he breathed his last. His demise is definitely a shocker for Hollywood, after director Nicolas Jack Roeg (Don't Look Now, The Man Who Fell to Earth) had also recently passed away last week. UK Film Director Nicolas Roeg Dies Aged 90.

Speaking more about Bertolucci, the film-maker was known for his controversial films like Last Tango in Paris and The Dreamers. Last Tango in Paris had created quite a furore when it came out in 1972, as the movie featured some very strong sex scenes between actress Maria Schneider and the much older Hollywood legend Marlon Brando. Maria Schneider had also accused both Brando and Bertolucci of mistreating her on the sets.

While Last Tango in Paris' controversy did shade his career, Bernardo Bertolucci has also given some unforgettable gems to Hollywood like 1900,  The Conformist, The Last Emperor, The Sheltering Sky and Stealing Beauty. He had won the Academy Award for Best Director and the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for The Last Emperor. Bernardo Bertolucci's last film as a director was a 2012 Italian drama film, Me and You.
