Deadpool & Wolverine is cruising to be the biggest hit of 2024, and with its success, many are now claiming that Marvel is back in form now. While that is still an argument that doesn't have a simple-straightforward answer, at least Marvel Studios can rejoice for the time being about the box office records being shattered by their new film. It may not have won all critics; however, Deadpool & Wolverine is winning back the Marvel fans they seem to have lost with their recent spate of average movies. Fans are sharing their fave moments from the movie online, be it their best scenes, the surprise cameos and yes, that opening credits scene. ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Cameos Explained: From Chris Evans’ Johnny Storm to Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, Check Out All Major Cameos in Hugh Jackman-Ryan Reynolds’ Film.

(SPOILER ALERT) Deadpool & Wolverine begins with Ryan Reynolds' fourth-wall-breaking mutant desecrating Logan's grave (from the 2017 film Logan) only to find his adamantium skeleton. When he gets ambushed by TVA agents, Deadpool kills the whole lot with Logan's bones to the score of NSYNC's 2000 smash hit "Bye Bye Bye". In between, he even pulls some dance moves.

The whole opening credits scene has gotten leaked on social media and is going viral, with fans showering love and appreciation for how director Shawn Levy has picturised it. Of course, the sequence also generated a renewed interest for the NSYNC song that has now been retitled on YouTube with the addition of (Deadpool & Wolverine). Following the release of the movie, the song has jumped 22 spots on the Global Spotify charts to a new peak of rank 16 with 3.34 million streams. ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’: Who Is Nick Pauley? But did you know that this is not the first time "Bye Bye Bye" has appeared in an X-Men film? What's more, the film it appeared in also featured Wolverine, albeit the character was alive during the scene.

'X2: X-Men United'

X2 is the second film in the original X-Men trilogy, directed by Bryan Singer and released in 2003. Many still consider X2 among the better X-Men films, ranking a little lower than Logan. While Hugh Jackman shined here as Wolverine, aka Logan, the movie also featured Aaron Stanford as Pyro (in his first appearance in the X-Men franchise), a character that the actor has now reprised in Deadpool & Wolverine‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Movie Review: Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s Fan-Pleasing Antics Ain’t Enough To Redeem Marvel Cinematic Universe!

As for the song, it is heard albeit quite briefly in the scene when Wolverine escapes from Professor Xavier's school for mutants along with Rogue (Anna Paquin), Iceman (Shawn Ashmore), and Pyro, after the school is besieged by Colonel William Stryker's forces.

They use Cyclops' car to escape. Pyro tries to play music on the car's sound system while they are driving away, and we briefly hear the "Bye Bye Bye" song being played through the system before Logan shuts it down.

Watch the Scene Here:

It looks like not just Deadpool but even Cyclops is a major NSYNC fan when it comes to mutants. Not Logan, though. If the one who's alive now gets to watch what Deadpool did to the bones of his dead variant, he is never going to be.

About NSYNC  and Their Smash-Hit Song 'Bye Bye Bye'

NSYNC was a former American boy band that was formed in the year 1995. The group consisted of Chris Kirkpatrick, Justin Timberlake, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, and JC Chasez. "Bye Bye Bye" was part of their third album called No Strings Attached, which came out in 2000. The song became instantly popular thanks to its innovative choreography, catchy beats and smooth vocals. "Bye Bye Bye" was allegorically a fun twist about the idea of a bad breakup and about letting go of your former partner.

With the success of their album and the song, NSYNC rose up the popularity charts and even found themselves rivalling other popular bands at the time, like the Backstreet Boys, Westlife, and Boyzone. However, a couple of years after No Strings Attached's release, NSYNC took a hiatus after their fourth album - Celebrity - came out in 2001. A hiatus that became a longstanding break. While the band members went on to pursue individual careers in music, it is Justin Timberlake who enjoyed the best solo success, also helped by his turbulent personal life and acting stints.

Recently, in 2023, the band reunited for a song called "Better Place" for the animated film Trolls Band Together. In 2024, they even performed live together at Timberlake's One Night Only concert, and they are also working on their reunion album. Now, with the renewed success of "Bye Bye Bye," we hope good times lie ahead once again for the NSYNC fans.
