Avengers Infinity War Reviews: A Super-Entertaining, Inter-Galactic Romp That Goes Out With a Bang, Say International Critics
Most of the reviews are of the verdict that Avengers: Infinity War has been an experience worth spending the decade with MCU, going through the past 18 movies.
The first official reviews of Avengers: Infinity War are out! Going by the general sentiment, it looks like Marvel has pulled off another miracle. Despite starring more than sixty character and more than two dozen big names, not to mention, plenty of subplots, the studios look to have made another winner in Avengers Infinity War that has the potential to become the biggest hit of the year. The critics are going gaga over the movie, the credit of which should go to MCU chief Kevin Feige and directors Anthony and Joe Russo.
Most of the reviews are of the verdict that Avengers: Infinity War has been an experience worth spending the decade with MCU, going through the past 18 movies. The reviews reveal that there are plenty of surprises, including some shocking deaths and that Thanos, the main antagonist, is the pillar of the movie. There are some flaws too, like there is bloat in the narrative and that certain heroes aren't given much deal to do. But then if you are cramming a movie with nearly every MCU superhero there is, you are bound to have such niggles.
Check out what major Hollywood websites are saying about Avengers: Infinity War -
The Guardian says, "In theory, all these superheroes crammed into one movie should trigger the law of diminishing returns and the Traveling Wilbury effect. And yet somehow in its pure uproariousness, it works. It’s just a supremely watchable film, utterly confident in its self-created malleable mythology. And confident also in the note of apocalyptic darkness."
Den of Geek says, "The most exciting thing about Infinity War, however, is that it’s like someone finally put an event comic on screen. Though often derided as shallow and facile, the best event stories work because you care about who makes it out of them, and are worried for what they might lose along the way, even though you know they’re going to win. Like an event comic, Avengers: Infinity War is epic and operatic, with scope and ambition. It’ll leave you simultaneously breathless and emotionally devastated – and when you’ve pulled yourself together, you’ll want to do it all over again."
Variety says, "Infinity War is a brashly entertaining jamboree, structured to show off each hero or heroine and give them just enough to do, and to update their mythologies without making it all feel like homework. At the same time, you may begin to lose hold of what made each of these characters, you know, special."
Empire Online says, "The film dances nimbly across the cosmos from one group to the next, turning the screws on each group, shattering them and pulling them back together in new combinations. With all these different strands, you might expect to see the gears move to keep this intricate plot humming, as in Age Of Ultron and Civil War. But this time the Russos achieve the impossible. Not only did they bring all these disparate characters and stories together, but they made it look effortless. And the ending laughs in the face of carbonite when it comes to raising the stakes for next time."
IGN says, "Using the strength of its powerful and interesting villain to set the stakes higher than ever, Avengers: Infinity War successfully brings together the past 10 years of Marvel movies into a largely effective cocktail of super-heroic dramatics. The fact that it manages to give nearly every member of its admittedly overstuffed cast at least a moment to shine is its greatest feat. Sure, it ends on a cliffhanger, but those final moments elevate the entire series in a poetic, if horrific, coup de grace."
