Avengers: Infinity War Box Office: Marvel Film Outscores Tiger Shroff's Baaghi 2 to Be 2018's Second Highest Grosser in India
It is also set to overshadow The Jungle Book's lifetime earnings here to be highest grossing Hollywood movie of all time.
Avengers Infinity War is breaking records not just in North America, but also worldwide and even in India. Overseas, the movie is the fastest to enter the billion-dollar club in just 11 days, beating Star Wars: The Force Awakens who reached the milestone in 12 days. The interesting bit is, the movie is yet to open in China, which is going to happen on May 11. So expect a surge in the collections soon. Avengers Infinity War also holds the record for the biggest opening ever for any movie, both in North America as well as worldwide.
Speaking of its Indian box office earnings, even here, the Marvel film got the highest box office opening for a Hollywood film here. It is also set to overshadow The Jungle Book's lifetime earnings here to be highest grossing Hollywood movie of all time. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Avengers Infinity War has made Rs 174.34 crore till date.
In the process, it has beaten the lifetime collection of Tiger Shroff's highest grossing movie till date, Baaghi 2. Baaghi 2 had made Rs 164.13 crore. With this, Avengers Infinity War has earned the distinction of being the second highest grossing movie in India in 2018. The first position is held by Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat with Rs 302.15 crore earnings. While Padmaavat has no fear of losing its numero uno position for a while, at least from Infinity War, there is a chance that the Marvel movie could be the first Hollywood movie to gross more than Rs 200 crore at the box office.
Avengers Infinity War is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo. It boasts of an ensemble cast with some major superheroes and villains like Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Captain America (Chris Evans), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Dr Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Spider-Man (Tom Holland), the Guardians of the Galaxy (Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper), War Machine (Don Cheadle), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Vision (Paul Bettany), Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Thanos (Josh Brolin).
