Avengers: Endgame Pre-Sales in India Suggest a Whopping 40 Cr Opening at the Box Office, Tickets Sold Out on Day 1
Avengers: Endgame has been one of the most-anticipated films of the year and the film's advance bookings in India are proof of that.
Avengers: Endgame opened up its advance bookings for Hindi and the English language shows in India on Sunday, April 21 and the response has been phenomenal. The Avengers finale is one of the most-anticipated films of the year and the Hollywood release is expected to shatter major box office records and as per trade experts, may even turn out to be the biggest opener of 2019. According to reports, the INOX chain of theatres has sold tickets worth Rs 6 crore so far. In the US, the film already set pre-sales record and was about five times more than Avengers: Infinity War. As per the Indian advance booking response, estimates suggest that the film could take an opening day collection of 40 crores. If the film manages this feat, it will be beating Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt starrer Kalank, which opened to a collection of 21.60 crores and became the highest opener of 2019. The response for Avengers: Endgame is clearly much higher than its previous outing, Avengers: Infinity War. The 2018 release had INOX sell over 40,000 tickets on its first day of advance bookings, while Cinepolis India had sold up to 50,000 tickets on the first day itself. With these pre-sales, the film went on to make a collection of 120 crores in its opening weekend.
Trade expert Taran Adarsh tweeted about Endgame's pre-sales saying, "#AvengersEndgame advance booking is unheard of, unimaginable and unprecedented... Much, much better than several #Hindi biggies that opened in 2018 and 2019... Eyes a record-breaking, historic start in #India... Dear BO records, get ready to be smashed and shattered!"
Trade expert Taran Adarsh's tweet:
The social media reactions from fans who have termed the advance booking for the film 'worse than Tatkal' (Indian Railway ticket booking service) suggests the massive response it is getting over its first weekend. On the ticket booking site BookMyShow, over 1.3 million users have marked the film as'interested'.
With the tickets getting sold out at major multiplexes on day one of advance booking itself, it looks like Avengers: Endgame could turn out to be the highest grossing Hollywood film in India. The film directed by Joe and Anthony Russo marks the end of Marvel's Phase 3, the Infinity Saga. The next Marvel release after Endgame will be Spiderman: Far From Home which is slated to release in July.
