Avengers: EndGame: Future Movies and TV Series About Thor, Black Widow, Black Panther That Marvel Has Set Up Through This Film (SPOILER ALERT)

Avengers: EndGame may be the culmination of 21 films that came before in Marvel Cinematic Universe, a poignant one at that. It is also the end of the journey for a couple of superheroes like Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) and Captain America (Chris Evans). Anthony and Joe Russo, directors of EndGame, made the film look like a fitting finale for everything we have loved about Marvel in the past 11 years since 2008's Iron Man. That doesn't mean, though, Marvel Cinematic Universe is ending with EndGame. Avengers EndGame Box Office: 5 Major Global Records the Marvel Film Broke As It Made $1.2 Billion In its Opening Weekend!

Instead, it is the beginning of a new era for MCU, as EndGame promises to take a new direction and new risks with the characters. As we discuss the kind of direction some of the movies will take post-EndGame, please note that we have to discuss some Major SPOILERS here, so be careful.

One thing is sure is that Marvel won't be bringing Iron Man (who died at the end) and Captain America (who becomes an old man) in any movie soon. It is not that death and old age are reasons enough to not bring a character back, it's a comic book franchise after all (and a couple of dead characters are making a return). But there is a kind of finality in how EndGame has dealt with these characters. Bringing them back alive would ruin that feeling.

But the rest of the alive (and some supposedly dead) characters are ready to take some interesting tangents. Let's discuss how EndGame sets them up for future movies and TV series. Starting off with:

Spider-Man

This one is confirmed, though. Spider-Man: Far From Home is the next Marvel release after EndGame, coming out in July. However at the end of Avengers: EndGame, it is shown that Peter Parker, like the rest of the Snapped victims, has returned to a world where he has lost five years. He meets his BFF Ned (Jacob Batalon) who also looks his age and might have been a Snap victim. The rest of his school friends are not seen, making us unsure of their status.

However, Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer shows the entire gang at the same age as they were in Homecoming. It is highly impossible that all of Peter's friends would have been Snapped, so it is more likely that Far From Home could be set before Infinity War. MCU chief Kevin Feige also confirmed that Far From Home is the final film in Phase 3 of MCU.

Wanda and Vision

Vision has been killed in Avengers: Infinity War, and doesn't return for EndGame even for a flashback scene. Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch has been brought back from the Snap, though. There has been a TV series announced starring these two, which will be set in the '50s. Considering we have seen Time Travel and Wanda's undefined powers, who knows what could happen! She could reanimate Vision and take him for a romantic sojourn in the past. Hope they bump into a hidden, married Captain America while they do so!

Bucky and Falcon

Like WandaVision, Bucky and Falcon also have a TV series lined up on Disney Plus for their buddy adventures. In the epilogue of EndGame, an older Cap is seen passing off his shield to Falcon instead of his old friend, Bucky, making the former the new Captain America. This would definitely play well if Marvel plans to make another Avengers film, though I am not very confident if he will get a solo film.

Hawkeye

Hawkeye, surprisingly, manages to stay alive, all thanks to Black Widow's sacrifice (more on her later). Though it is not officially confirmed by Disney +, he will headline a TV series where he is seen passing off the mantle of Hawkeye to his protege Kate Bishop, and finally go for that retirement that he always wanted.

Loki 

The God of Mischief has been killed at the start of Avengers: Infinity War and he stays dead in EndGame. But there is a TV series lined up in his name at Disney Plus, so what about that? During Iron Man, Ant-Man and Captain America's travel to 2012 for the events of the first Avengers film, a little mishap involving the 2012 Hulk causes Tesseract to fall into the hands of Loki, who escapes to God-Knows-Where. This could make an alternative reality for Loki and become the premise of his TV series.

Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel and Black Panther

All these superheroes are bound to get the sequels for their successful solo first films. An interesting thing to note here is that Doctor Strange won't be having his strongest weapon this time - Time Stone - which means Dormammu, the Big Bad from the first film could make a return. Also, Captain Marvel, new haircut and all, would head to the cosmos, as there is no threat on Earth worthy enough for her powers.

The Hulk

EndGame had an interesting take on Banner and Hulk saga, merging the two personalities to form Professor Hulk. It was a very adorable character, though, thanks to the rights issue (Universal has the rights for all his solo films), we won't be seeing him headlining a movie soon. So Marvel would either stop using the character or continue to make him a supporting character in future Thor or Spider-Man movies.

War Machine

Sadly, despite Don Cheadle's fine performance, War Machine doesn't get any elevation beyond being Iron Man's friend, even though the character has been present in MCU right from the start. With Iron Man gone, we are not sure if Rhodey would appear in any movie. Though, a brief look that Captain Marvel and Rhodey share during the hologram scene could hint at a possibility of a romance that these two characters have in the some of the comic book storylines. So can we see Rhodey in a Captain Marvel movie? Chances are pretty slim, though.

Ant-Man and the Wasp

Though it is not announced yet, we are sure both the superheroes will appear for the threequel that also involves Scott's now-teenage daughter, Cassie. Fingers crossed that Luis and gang are returning too!

Thor and Guardians of the Galaxy

This is the most definitive movie setup that EndGame did by the end of the film. Thor gives up the kingship of Asgard to Valkyrie and setting off with the restructured Guardians of the Galaxy team (Star-Lord, Nebula, Drax, Rocket Racoon, Mantis, Groot, possibly Kraglin too). This is possibly an exciting setup for James Gunn's upcoming film, and with Star-Lord searching for 2014 version of Gamora, we have a plot too!

Valkyrie

Tessa Thompson is quite popular these days, so Marvel should not let go off a chance to utilise her character, Valkyrie and give her a solo movie. After Thor goes into space, she is now responsible for the Asgardian settlement on Earth, which could lead to some very interesting storylines in a future Thor movie.

Black Widow

Now, this is the trickiest one. We know that there is a Black Widow solo movie coming up, starring Scarlett Johansson. But in EndGame, the character sacrifices her life while trying to retrieve the Soul Stone from Vormir. The Hulk later says he tried to bring her back from the dead,  but couldn't, because she wasn't killed by the snap. Which then makes Black Widow a prequel, that would be about her days of becoming an assassin.

And there is another interesting possibility. When Cap goes back in time to return the Infinity Stones in the slots they have been taken from, we are not sure how he returns the Soul Stone (moreover, what happened when he met his arch-enemy Red Skull as a floating figure there). So if he somehow managed to return the stone, does that mean it could have revived Black Widow?
