The first trailer of the upcoming MCU film, Avengers 4 is out. The movie is a sequel to Avengers: Infinity War. The speculations around the trailer release date and the title of the film were so many that it almost led to a frenzy amongst the fans of the Marvel Studios. There was even a conspiracy theory that the studio might not release the title of the film with the first trailer. Thankfully, Marvel bosses and creative heads are not that sadistic. The trailer apart from crucial plot points also reveals the title...Avengers: Endgame.
Avengers: Endgame was always rumoured to be a title of the movie. But the director, Joe and Anthony Russo, shamelessly denied it in May 2018. But we understand why they'd do it. Another popular fan theory suggested the title would be Avengers: Annihilation, and we are just thankful this was not the case. Because that would have been one word half of the universe would have struggled to spell.
The Endgame theory began doing the rounds right after the release of Avengers: Infinity War. In the climax of the movie, when Iron Man looks at Doctor Strange for answers, the wizard mysteriously, “We’re in the endgame now.”
But the directors had said Endgame is not it. In an interview with Uproxx, the director duo said "no" when asked if the title of Avengers 4 was something that was spoken in Infinity War. This led to the wrongful debunking of the theory.
Even earlier, Anthony Russo, in an interview with Bustle, while talking about the title, had said, "I think we came to that name fairly early in the development process. It speaks to the heart of the story.”
True to the words, Endgame does speak to the heart of the story. This movie will indeed be the endgame if the superheroes want to defeat Thanos.
