Ashton Kutcher made his appearance at the Los Angeles court on Wednesday to testify against the suspected serial killer who allegedly killed Ashley Ellerin, a girl Kutcher was dating at the time. The night before Ellerin's body was found at her, Kutcher did stop by to pick her up for their date. However, he returned as she did not respond to the doorbell ringing.

In his testimony, Kutcher stated that he met Ellerin, two months before she was allegedly slain by Michael Gargiulo, who has also been called the "Hollywood Ripper". Ashton further explained how he attended a housewarming party at Ellerin's place, two weeks before her murder. They made plans to go out on a casual date. On the day of the date, he was stuck at the Grammy Awards viewing party and hence left a message letting her know that he would be late. He left a few voicemails stating that he was running late. Ellerin did call him back and let him know that it was okay.

Ashton then headed to her place and even gave her a call that he was approaching her house. However, she did not answer the call. He said, trying to take her on a date and didn't want to seem over eager," so he did not persistently call her. Kutcher did look through her window and noticed a lot of mess in the house. But he discarded any foul play considering how she had recently moved in, which he gathered from the housewarming party he attended. Kutcher noticed wine stains on the carpeted stairway and left.

Ashley Ellerin, a part-time stripper and fashion student, was found dead in 2001 with 47 stabs on her body. Gargiulo has been accused of fatally stabbing 32-year-old Maria Bruno (who died in her apartment in El Monte, California, in 2005).
