As The World Awaits Avengers: Infinity War, Doctor Strange 2 Eyes New Villain

Benedict Cumberbatch had made his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2016 as the Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Strange with his own solo movie. It was directed by Scott Derrickson and was appreciated for its brilliant special effects. Though it was not a Black Panther-sized hit, it made huge bucks at the box office enough to earn calls for a sequel. However, no official confirmation have come out as to when the sequel will be made and who else will be roped in. It looks like the Marvel executives were waiting for Avengers 3 and 4 to come out before they can make the official announcement.
Well, it looks like not only Doctor Strange is going to survive the events of both the Avengers movies, (despite seen being tortured by one of Thanos' men in the last trailer), he has to prep himself up for the sequel.
Robert C Cargill, the screenwriter for the sequel, had talked about the movie in an interview to Movie Web. Here he revealed that the sequel is very much alive, and that they are eyeing Nightmare as the new nemesis for Doctor Strange. And he will not be the only one. Chiwetel Ejiofor's Baron Mordo, who played Strange's friend-turned-foe in his solo movie, will also be making a return as the secondary antagonist.
Cargill revealed, “Me and Scott (Derrickson, the director of the first movie) have not laid the groundwork for it but what I can say is that I have a feeling that whatever Nightmare is involved with, Baron Mordo, being somebody who considers himself the defender of natural law will have something to do with it.”
For those who are not aware, Nightmare is the ruler of a Dream Dimension, based on Lovecraftian mythology. So expect some really spooky scenes. After all he is named Nightmare, isn't he?
Speaking more about Mordo, Cargill said, “For those of you who have ever read the comics, you know that Baron Mordo has a very particular arc, and that’s something we discussed with Chiwetel while working on the first movie. And part of the reason Chiwetel wanted to play Mordo was because he has a definitive ending as a character and it’s such a fascinating ending. And I do know that whether we’re attached or not, that Marvel plans on working towards that ending and fully realizing Mordo as more than just a cardboard cutout villain, but actually taking him to kind of Loki levels of awesomeness. That’s the goal with him.”
Well, you got our attention, alright! Now let us know when we will see Nightmare and Mordo battle Doctor Strange on the big screen.
Meanwhile Avengers: Infinity War is all set to release on April 27.
