Yet another beloved children's property is given the live-action treatment by the world's biggest studio, Walt Disney. Artemis Fowl, based on a book by Eoin Colfer, is being made into a movie that is directed by actor-filmmaker Kenneth Branagh. Ferdia Shaw plays the lead role of a 12-year old genius assassin who comes from a lineage of criminals and is now tasked to take on dangerous, dark fairies with an eye on destroying humanity. Well, of course. While Artemis Fowl may feel like an unfamiliar name outside the American continent, the first teaser of the film promises a fantasy ride filled with some eye-bending imagery and a dark intro of its lead actor. Branagh, who is known for creating visual spectacles as shown in his Shakespearean adaptations and Thor, has created two diametrically different worlds for Artemis Fowl. Artemis Fowl also stars Lara McDonnell, Tamara Smart, Nonzo Anozie, Josh Gad, and Judi Dench. The movie is all set to release on August 9, 2019.
