Ariana Grande has pulled out of the Grammys 2019 as a performer. Turns out, Grande and the producers of the Grammy Awards had a bit of a disagreement with respect to her choice of songs. Ariana was supposed to attend the awards show as well as perform from her latest album, "Thank U, Next". However, after the committee tried to make a few changes in the line-up of songs that she will be performing, Grande pulled out.
As per a report on Variety, Grande felt insulted when the producers initially refused to allow her to perform her latest song, 7 Rings. After an initial disagreement, a compromise was reached where Grande was supposed to use 7 Rings as part of a medley. However, she pulled out after the producers insisted that they want to choose the second song for her. Interestingly, a similar situation took place last year with British artist Lorde whereby they didn't want her to perform a song from her album, Melodrama. The album was also nominated as one of the five Album of the Year category.
This year, Grande has been nominated for Best Pop Vocal Performance (for God Is a Woman) and Best Pop Vocal Album (for 2018's Sweetener). Since Ariana has backed out of the awards, Grammys won't be graced with the presence of the twice-nominated artist, whose name, they used to promote the show!
Grande has gone through a lot in the past two years. Starting from the shocking Manchester concert bombing incident in 2017 to the death of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller in 2018 to having her engagement with Pete Davidson broken off. After 7 Rings was released, Grande was also accused of plagiarism by several celebrities!
