It was bound to happen! Whenever any film industry tries to remake a beloved classic, the development won't be taken to the heart by the fans. Guy Ritchie's live-adaptation of Disney's 1992 animated classic, Aladdin, was troubled with the controversies from the start itself. From the casting of white actors at first (that eventually changed to include Asian-origin actors) to its unappealing first images, the movie was seen with trepidation by those who have grown up watching the beloved classic. It also doesn't help that Ritchie himself is going through a rough phase in his career, and his last attempt to adapt a nostalgic piece, Arthur, flopped at the box office. Aladdin Special Look Teaser Video OUT: Will Smith as Genie is Funny and 'Blue' in Disney's Grand Live Action Movie.

The biggest criticism was reserved for Will Smith as Genie. The character in the original film was voiced by the beloved Hollywood actor, the late Robin Williams. Many of the fans were unhappy with Will Smith, who like Ritchie is not seeing sunny days in his career right now, stepping into Williams' shoes. When the first images from the film came out, there were criticisms over Will Smith's Genie not looking 'blue' enough. Aladdin First Look Gets a Thumbs Down From Twitterati as Genie Isn't Blue, Will Smith Reverts With an Assurance.

The actor has assured that his genie will be blue in the final film, which the new trailer agrees to be true. Check it out below:

But even though we have a blue genie in our hands, fans were not happy with how horrendous CGI-fied Will Smith is looking in the trailer. They took to Twitter to voice out that the new genie is giving them nightmares. Check out the tweets below -
