Priyanka Chopra's international series, Quantico, has received a lot of flak from quite a few India Twitter users for its recent episode, The Blood of Romeo. The episode received a lot of outrage for showing Hindu nationalists as terrorists who plotted to bomb Manhattan and placate the crime on Pakistan (a ploy that Priyanka Chopra's Alex Parrish foils). This subplot has not gone down well with some of the Indian viewers who have watched the episode when it was telecast in the US, and they blamed the channel and Priyanka Chopra for showing India in a poor light.
After the outrage, the channel issued an apology to the viewers, as well as Priyanka Chopra. Now it is reported that ABC (the network that airs Quantico) has pulled out the episode from the telecast in India. The show airs in Star World in our country.
Earlier, ABC issued a statement that read, "ABC Studios and the executive producers of 'Quantico' would like to extend an apology to our audience who were offended by the most recent episode, “The Blood of Romeo.” The episode has stirred a lot of emotion, much of which is unfairly aimed at Priyanka Chopra, who didn’t create the show, nor does she write or direct it. She has no involvement in the casting of the show or the storylines depicted in the series." 'Quantico' is a work of fiction. The show has featured antagonists of many different ethnicities and backgrounds, but in this case, we inadvertently and regrettably stepped into a complex political issue. It was certainly not our intention to offend anyone.”
Priyanka Chopra also later tweeted out, "I’m extremely saddened and sorry that some sentiments have been hurt by a recent episode of Quantico. That was not and would never be my intention. I sincerely apologise. I'm a proud Indian and that will never change." We hope these apologies will reduce the hate against the show, that's in its final season.
