Abominable Movie Review: Abominable is an American-Chinese production that had its world premiere at TIFF 2019. In India, it heads for a September 27 theatrical release and before you watch this on the big screen, here we bring you our review for this adventurous animated movie. Abominable centres around a mythological creature called Yeti, usually found in fictional books and folk-lores. In the movie, the hairy gorilla-like baby Yeti escapes from a laboratory in China and is followed by some powerful people who want this never seen before species at any cost. It reaches on the rooftop an innocent teenage girl Yi, voiced by Chloe Bennet. She is this cute little independent girl who fancies earning on her own just to travel places bucket-listed by her late dad for a family vacation.

Things get even more interesting when Yi and Yeti interact in the midst of strong surveillance in the city. They are accompanied by two neighbouring friends, Peng (Albert Tsai) and his elder social media freak brother Jin (Tenzing Norgay Trainor). Yi's non-stop blabbering granny Nai Nai (Tsai Chin) doing all-time kitchen chores is a joyous character you would love despite her minimum screen-time. Who is Yeti? Know Myths and Legends About The Abominable Snowman and Does it Really Exist?

Abominable's setting takes a little bit of time in introducing these characters but after the first 30 minutes, there is no looking back. The start is just a build-up for a fascinating journey to Mount Everest where they are all headed to make Yeti reach his home safely. Even though the humour quotient is not too high, Abominable is truly a winner in terms of its background score, music and depicting emotions through these memorable, well-written characters. The film has its moments, there are certain scenes where you will peel your eyes open, and others that keep you hooked right up with the magical wonders of Yeti.

There is no dull moment in this entire 98 minutes run-time film. The climax is endearing enough to put a smile on your face and you will walk out of the theatre, thinking about this emotional movie and say to yourself - Ahh! It was worth a watch. Playmobil The Movie Trailer: Daniel Radcliffe as a Top Toy Spy Makes a Promising Animated Debut – Watch Video.

I was very much elated to hear Coldplay's "Fix You" that is immersed perfectly in the narrative to give us goosebumps. Yi's violin score is the most instrumental element to make this one a memorable fare and these symphonies stayed with us quite long making us sense the sheer belongingness and affection through these characters. The concept of Yeti is very much explored in films like The Son of Bigfoot (2017) and Smallfoot (2018). However, these films were high on humour rather than focusing on the emotional aspects. Whereas Abominable is a clear winner as it struck the right chord among its viewers on an emotional end.

Yay!

- Expressive characters and a perfect voice cast

- The spellbinding bond between Yi, Yeti, Peng and Jin

- Stunning Visuals

- Background Score and Music

- Compelling Screenplay

- Emotional Moments are Very Touching

Nay!

- Cliche Plot (Very much like Salman Khan's 2015 film Bajrangi Bhaijaan) No Kidding!

-  Restricts Humour, wanted a lot more of it

- Wanted to see more of Granny Nai Nai

Final Thoughts

DreamWorks delivers yet another enchanting animated movie. It may not be in the same league as a Shrek or Kung Fu Panda or a How To Train Your Dragon, but this simplistic film hits the right chords. It's riveting, delightful and engaging. So go grab a tub of popcorn and take your young one along for this feel-good film.
