Priyanka Chopra may not have a great start when it comes to her Hollywood movie career. Though she got wide recognition through her international series Quantico, Priyanka's first live-action Hollywood movie Baywatch was a disappointment. Despite starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron and riding on high hopes, Baywatch was trashed by the critics and flopped at the box office. However, Priyanka has left the debacle of her first Hollywood movie behind and is ready with her next, an indie flick called A Kid Like Jake.

However, she is not the lead in the movie, the duties of which go to Homeland's Claire Danes and The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons. The first trailer has come out and it shows a heartwarming tale of a married couple who faces their biggest challenge when they learn their kid is 'special'. Based on an off-Broadway play, A Kid Like Jake shows how the parents cope with the fact that their son is gender-expansive.

The trailer focuses more on Danes and Parsons, with Oscar winner Octavia Spencer, who plays Jake's teacher, getting more footage. However if you are keen to see Priyanka Chopra in there, there is a chance that you would be disappointed. She only appears twice for a few seconds, playing the couple's friend. Aasif Maandvi plays her husband.

A Kid Like Jake also stars Amy Landecker and Ann Dowd. The movie has been screened for the first time at the Sundance Festival, where it received positive reviews. Variety, in its review has this to say about Priyanka Chopra - " a charming presence who slips in and out of the movie without having a compelling reason to be in it."

Earlier in an interview to a tabloid, Priyanka had this to say about working with A Kid Like Jake, and her next after that, Isn't It Romantic?, "The two movies that I just did, just one or two months before I start Quantico season 3. These two are quick films. I am very excited about the films, the whole project in itself. Please let me tell you right now, these are not some Priyanka Chopra movies, these are just very interesting parts which I have done in two really amazing films with some wonderful actors.”

A Kid Like Jake is scheduled to release on June 8.
