After nearly a decade with Dostana, Tarun Mansukhani returns to the director's chair with Drive, a movie that has the potential to launch a franchise. Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez play the main leads in this movie, what is described as a fast paced thriller that revolves around car-races. Karan Johar is co-producing the movie under his banner Dharma Productions along with Fox Star.

Now the official Twitter handle of Dharma has confirmed the release date of the movie, which is on September 7. Tarun also tweeted out the release from his personal handle as he wrote,

Producer Karan Johar also tweeted out the release date with the new poster,

Speaking of the leads, this is first time Sushant Singh Rajput is doing a movie with Dharma. Jacqueline Fernandez had played the female lead in a Dharma movie, Brothers, where she played Akshay Kumar's wife. They are also pairing up for the first time in the movie. Both Sushant and Jacqueline are reportedly playing street racers in the movie and will be involved in some exciting action sequences.

Drive has had a spate of release date changes. Earlier it was rumoured to come out in March, but that didn't happen. The September 7 release date looks fine as there is no major Bollywood release coming out on this date (Arjun Patiala arrives a week later, while Batti Gul Meter Chalu comes a week earlier).
