Diljit Dosanjh is the latest celebrity to make it to the Madame Tussauds museum in New Delhi. The prestigious wax statue museum opened for the public in Delhi in December 2017. Several Indian celebrities from various fields including Narendra Modi, Shah Rukh Khan, Virat Kohli and Baba Ramdev have their statues at the Delhi museum. And the latest to join the list is the Punjabi sensation Dosanjh. Madame Tussades, which has its main museum in London and several small museums spread across the globe in New York, Sydney, Hong Kong, Bangkok etc., is known for displaying wax figures of important personalities, several of them Indian.
Indians from fields as varied as politics, sports and films, all of them have made a place in the Madame Tussauds. Here is a list of some of the most popular Indian celebrities whose wax figures stand tall in the museums across the globe.
Mahatma Gandhi
Father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi has his wax statue in London, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Sydeny as well as Delhi’s Madam Tussauds museums.
Amitabh Bachchan
Amitabh Bachchan was the first Asian and Bollywood celebrity to get a wax statue at Madame Tussauds in London. He also has a statue at other important museums across Bangkok, Hong Kong, Singapore, Washington DC and San Francisco.
Sachin Tendulkar
Revered as the god of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar's wax statue was installed in the Madame Tussauds museum in 2009 in London. It was unveiled on his 36th birthday.
Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh Khan is one celebrity who has his statue at multiple museums of Madame Tussadas. His first statue was installed in 2007 in London. He then got a statue at Madame Tussauds in Berlin, Sydney and Singapore too. In 2015, his statue in London was also given a makeover as his character Gaurav from the movie Fan.
Salman Khan
The Bhai of Bollywood Salman Khan got his first statue in Madame Tussauds museum in London in 2008. Later, the actor also got a statue in the New York museum.
Narendra Modi
The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi also unveiled his wax statue at four Madame Tussauds museums in London, Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok in 2017. One of them was bought to Delhi as well.
Anil Kapoor
The very dapper actor Anil Kapoor's wax statue made a place in the Madame Tussauds museum in Singapore in 2017. The statue looks strikingly similar to the actor.
Aishwarya Rai
The first actress to enter the Tussauds museum in London was Aishwarya Rai. The actress got a wax statue in 2004 which is sculpted in a red coloured saree. Later she also got a statue in the San Francisco museum.

Karan Johar, became the first Indian director to get a wax statue in Madame Tussauds in London in April 2018. The actor took to Twitter to share the joy.

Post the success of Bahubali, Prabhas became the first South Indian movie star to get a wax statue in the revered wax museum in 2017 in Bangkok.
Kareena Kapoor Khan
One of Bollwood's most popular actress Kareena Kapoor Khan got a wax statue in 2011 in London. The statue wears the iconic black patiala and top from the song "Mauja Hi Maujha" from Jab We Met. Later Kareena also got a statue at the Singapore museum in 2014 which is in her avtar from the Ra One song "Chamak Challo."
Katrina Kaif
Katrina Kaif also made it to the revered Madame Tussauds museum in London in 2015. The actress' statue is in an ethnic attire has been sculpted by 20 artists.
Varun Dhawan
Varun Dhawan became the youngest Bollywood to get a statue at the Madam Tussauds museum. His statue was unveiled in January 2018 at the Hong Kong museum.
Anushka Sharma
Anushka Sharma became the first Indian to get a talking wax statue at Madame Tussauds in Singapore. Her statue will be seen holding a phone, which the visitors can use to take selfie and also greet with the visitors with pleasantries.
These celebrities with their contribution to their respective fields have made it to the popular museum and given India one more reason to be a proud country.
