We have often heard filmmakers say that how every film has its own journey. There are surely times when they write a script keeping a certain actor in mind, but things don't fall in place and a totally different actor ends up playing that role. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Something like this happened with the casting of Sriram Raghavan's AndhaDhun. Those who have seen the film will agree that it's one of the best films to have come out of Bollywood. It is also Ayushmann Khurrana's best performance so far. But do you know that before Ayushmann came on-board, Sriram took the script to a lot of big actors?

Yep! In an interview recently, the filmmaker made this huge revelation as he said that a lot of big actors refused to star in Andhadhun. “A lot of big actors said no to the film. They couldn’t understand how the movie would pan out. At the time, we didn’t have the complete script. And I was like, if they can’t understand it now, then it’s fine because they won’t suit the role,” Raghavan said at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, which was held last week. Jersey Star Nani to Star in Andhadhun's Telugu Remake?

Sriram also revealed that he never thought of Ayushmann until the latter reached out to him and asked if he can audition for the part. That's when the director asked him if he could play the piano and Ayushmann said that while he knew how to play the guitar, he would learn the keys for the film. Sriram further revealed that it was the enthusiasm that he was sold on.

AndhaDhun is a dark film. So Raghavan was asked about the filming process and whether it had any impact on the cast. To this, he said, “I remember the crazy journey all of us took. The film is good crazy and good mad. We experienced that first hand. We were literally living it, it was organic and it was a great journey.”

Apart from Ayushmann, AndhaDhun also starred Tabu and Radhika Apte. Ayushmann won his first-ever National Award recently for his performance in the film.
