Last month, American pop singer Demi Lovato was hospitalised following an alleged heroine overdose and wishes for her speedy recovery poured in abundance from the industry as well as her fans. While her family thanked everyone for their prayers, her 16-year-old sister has finally broken her silence about Demi’s relapse on a special day. Demi turns 26 today and to pay tribute to her sister Madison De La Garza posted an emotional message along with a throwback photo. Madison shared a throwback photo of the two when they were kids. The caption read: “Today could have been one of the worst days of my life, but instead I get to spend it thanking God, the incredible doctors, demi’s team and everyone across the world who offered their support – without all of these people I wouldn’t have my big sister anymore.”

Madison further wrote: “I’ve been thinking about how I wish that everyone could see the silly little things that she does, like how her nostrils move when she says certain words and when she brushes my hair behind my ear when I’m trying to sleep, because those are the things I’m thankful for today. They seem so small, but those little things make up my sister – not a singer, not a celebrity, and definitely not what she’s been described as in the media – she’s a daughter, a friend and my big sister…and I am so, so thankful that I can tell her happy birthday.”

Demi’s mother Dianna also wished the singer on Instagram, writing: “Thank you for all your love and prayers…I am truly blessed.” The singer had been sober for the last six years but in new track Sober which released in June that she had relapsed. Earlier this month, Demi posted her special message on Instagram expressing gratitude to all her fans, family and friends. A close source to Lovato previously told People, “She’s in the midst of recovery. It’s going to be a long road and Demi knows that. Emotionally, it hasn’t been easy, but she’s doing okay.”
