‘Sorry Not Sorry’ singer Demi Lovato was hospitalised on July 24 following her heroine overdose. Demi has been struggling with her addiction for a long time and in March, Lovato revealed she celebrated six years of sobriety. However, in the recent past she relapsed which she suggested in her new song ‘Sober’ released in June. And now, the 25-year-old has finally broken her silence on her drug overdose, expressing her gratitude to all her fans, family and friends. She posted the message on her Instagram account.
In her first public statement since suffering an overdose last month, the singer wrote: “I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet.” Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas Pray for the American Singer

She further wrote: “I want to thank God for keeping me alive and well. To my fans, I am forever grateful for all your love and support throughout this past week and beyond. Your positive thoughts and prayers have helped me navigate through this difficult time.” Demi also thanked the staff at Cedars-Sinai where she was hospitalised for 12 days: “I want to thank my family, my team and the staff at Cedars-Sinai who have been by my side this entire time. Without them I wouldn’t be here writing this letter to all of you.”
The note came two days after the singer has agreed to enter a drug treatment centre following her drug overdose. She concluded her post saying that she now needs time to heal and recover. “I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery. The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I cam out on the other side. I will keep fighting.”
In a 2017 YouTube documentary, Simply Complicated, Lovato spoke about years of substance abuse, eating disorders and drinking. She started using cocaine when she was 17 and entered rehab at 18 and was also diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Demi knows and understands the seriousness of her overdose that almost took her life. A source told People, “She wants to be sober. She wants to get help. She understands that it will take a lot of work and commitment to stay healthy, but this is what she wants.”
Throughout her time in the hospital, her ex-boyfriend of six years before they split in 2016, Wilmer Valderrama was by Demi’s side to offer support and spent hours at the hospital every day, a source told US media. Demi was found unconscious in her Hollywood home after what sources described as a long night of partying. We wish Demi all the good luck and we are certain that she will emerge a fighter once again.
