Oh how much we have missed watching Madhuri Dixit on the big screen. Bucket List has actually been on my bucket list ever since the trailer came out. Now it's true that I wanted to watch it just because of Madhuri but there is so much in this movie. All the actors, except the teenage kids, have contributed so much to the film. It's a very simple film and very relatable story. Madhuri plays the role of Madhura Sane, a housewife who tends to everyone's needs perfectly, even when she should be worrying about herself. Of course, that's until Sai enters her life like we saw in the Bucket List trailer.

Everything changes after she goes through a heart transplant surgery. Madhura decides to complete Sai's bucket list since she wants her new life to mean something. And it's not that her entire family is against it. But they also don't take her wish to complete the bucket list seriously. Sumeet Raghavan plays the role of Mohan, Madhura's husband, who is mostly always working but is also a doting husband, a good father and a wonderful son. What I couldn't stop noticing about him throughout the film is how he has not aged at all. I just couldn't stop thinking about it.

What I love the most about this film is how well it has been written. Now when it comes to Marathi movies, we have often seen a lot of them that have a very unique concept that everybody can relate to. Marathi cinema has some of the best films when it comes to writing and this one doesn't fail to impress. Renuka Shahane plays Sai's mother who is coping with her daughter's loss and seeing Madhura complete Sai's bucket list so passionately helps her deal with it.

One of my favourite characters in the movie was Panji, played by Shubha Khote. Her comic timing is just perfect. Sumedh Mudgalkar, who plays Sai's twin brother Salil, is also one of my favourites characters in this film. Though the film has been written really well and has a wonderful cast, it lacks continuity. Madhura's daughter exposes her wild side to the family and seems very upset about it but then she is also excited to know what her mother did. In another scene that follows shortly, the daughter is upset that the mother doesn't pay attention to them anymore but in the next 10 minutes, she feels proud of her mom. This whole equation Madhura has with her teenage daughter could have been shown in a better way.

Yay!

- Madhuri Dixit (Just the two words say it all)

- Madhuri and Sumeet's chemistry in the movie is damn cute

- The writing was subtle, relatable and in a lot scenes, beautiful

- Overall performances (except the teenagers) were really good

- Music was also quite good

Nay!

- Some scenes or rather the one where Sai's friends mourn her death could have been shot better, without imposing pop culture references or anything

- The direction is flawed in some scenes. For instance, Ranbir Kapoor's cameo could have been more impacting than it is in the movie

- Okay I was not ready to watch Sumeet in a romantic number that was half a Sooraj Hua Madham and half Gerua visually.

- Like I explained above, there is lack of continuity in some scenes, especially the second half of the movie.

Final Thoughts

Overall, it's an entertaining film. You can take your family out to watch the film and be assured that everyone will like it. For a debut in the Marathi film industry, Madhuri was spectacular in this one. Have you watched the film? Tell us what you think in the comments below and stay tuned with us for more.
