Zero Box Office Prediction: Is Shah Rukh Khan's Film Going to Be the Biggest Hit of 2018?

Shah Rukh Khan's much-awaited film Zero co-starring Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif is finally releasing tomorrow, December 21. The stakes are pretty high on this one because Khan's last film Jab Harry Met Sejal tanked badly at the box office. With no other Hindi release alongside Zero, the film which has been directed by Aanand L Rai has a pretty good chance of minting big money at the Indian box office. The trailer of the film, which released on November 2, had garnered positive reviews and since then there has been a great buzz around Zero. The makers have gone all out on social media to promote the film and so far it has worked wonders for SRK starrer. But will Khan score a biggie at the box office with Zero? Will his film become the biggest hit of 2018?

Well, we spoke to film exhibitor and distributor Akshaye Rathi regarding the same and he said, "The film looks good but it’s unlikely that Zero will be the biggest hit of this year. I don’t see it going beyond the numbers that Sanju did. Having said that, Zero certainly will clock in good figures. It looks like an entertaining film because of the Aanand L Rai factor. If you go by his track record, even with absolute non-starrers he has been able to deliver good numbers. So now with Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina and Anushka, he should be able to get better numbers. "

Rathi also pointed out that with films like Simmba, KGF and Aquaman in the theatres, Zero will face stiff competition at the box office. "To say that Zero can be the highest grosser of this year is a bit ambitious. Plus, there is Simmba which looks like an absolute mammoth Rohit Shetty film which appeals to as wide an audience as India. So all these factors will take away screenings from Zero and the only thing that can make Zero survive these things- like the Simmba factor, the second week of Aquaman and KGF – is the merit of the film itself." He further added, "So let’s hope the fans of Shah Rukh Khan and people who enjoy his movies come to watch it and come to watch the film again and again."

While it seems Zero may or not be the biggest hit of this year, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer will certainly enjoy a good run at the ticket windows and will undoubtedly make loads of money.  But how much? Only time will tell.
