What Is IVF?
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a complex medical procedure that involves fertilising an egg with sperm in a laboratory. IVF is one of the most popular and widely used procedures that facilitates fertilisation, embryo development and implantation, helping infertile couples or individuals to get pregnant safely. The procedure has helped a number of Bollywood personalities who were facing challenges with pregnancy or who simply wished to opt in for the procedure have turned their parenthood dreams into a reality.
What Is Surrogacy?
Surrogacy is a type of pregnancy where a woman carries and gives birth to a baby for a person who cannot have children. In this medical procedure, eggs from a woman who will carry the baby are fused with the donor's sperm to form an embryo. This embryo is later implanted into the uterus of the surrogate mother. The surrogate mother carries the baby until its birth. However, it is not necessary to have the surrogate mother's egg; the actual mother and father can contribute their sperm and eggs to form the embryo. Surrogacy is a boon to couples who wish to embrace parenthood but can't do so naturally. From Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra Jonas to Farah Khan and Tusshar Kapoor, here are a few celebs who opted for IVF and surrogacy.
