This might put all speculations to rest! There were talks that Karan Johar and his protege Sidharth Malhotra, who made debut with KJo's Student of the Year, had a fallout. It added more fuel to the rumour when Karan Johar had signed Sid's fellow SOTY debutantes Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt for quite a few productions. Many felt it had something to with Sidharth Malhotra's flailing box office career. He was also supposed to a biopic of Kargil martyr Vikram Batra, which had no progress after its announcement, after the failure of his last movie Aiyaary.

However, in a surprise move, Karan Johar announced on Twitter that his production house, Dharma,  is backing the Vikram Batra biopic, along with Shabbir Boxwala. Titled Yeh Dil Mangey More. the biopic will retain Sidharth Malhotra as the lead, reliving the heroism of Vikram Batra on screen. Karan had tweeted, "Time to relive-Yeh Dil Mangey More @DharmaMovies & Shabbir Boxwala collaborate to present the true story of bravery & patriotism-the chronicles of Kargil war hero Vikram Batra @S1dharthM in the lead as Sher Shah Vikram Batra  Vishnu Varadhan to direct  WrittenBy Sandeep Shrivastava". More details are to be received on the rest of the cast as well as its release date.

Earlier speaking to PTI, Sidharth revealed he has a double role in the movie - that of Batra and his brother. He said, "We want to work properly on the story. It is not a fictitious story that I want to jump into it. I hope whenever the film comes out the family is happy and proud. This is my first biopic and I am super excited for it. He has a brother but the film is predominately about Captain Vikram. We are planning how to cleverly deal with it (double roles). He impacted so many people in the Army." Earlier, Abhishek Bachchan had played the role of Captain Batra in JP Dutta's LOC-Kargil.

Sidharth Malhotra had a bout of bad luck since none of his post, 2016's Kapoor & Sons, have worked at the box office. Let's hope Yeh Dil Mangey More will give his career a much-needed turnaround.
