Year Ender 2019: These 7 Cameos in Ayushmann Khurrana’s Bala, Salman Khan’s Bharat, Ajay Devgn’s De De Pyaar De Left Us Completely Pleased

This year, there was a surprisingly less number of starry cameos, with quite a few of them either stuck in item songs or not leaving the right kind of impact. So searching for the diamonds in the rough, we came up with these five cameos that we liked in 2019.

Who doesn't like a cameo? Imagine watching a movie, and suddenly your favourite actor appears for a small scene and basically steals the show from the leads. Like Juhi Chawla's sweet cameo at the end of Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na. Or Salman Khan's cameo at the end of Deewana Mastana or his extended guest appearance in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Or maybe Hrithik Roshan appearing in a crucial scene in Don 2 and taking off his mask to ludicrously revealing that he is SRK. Or last year, when Ranbir Kapoor pulled up a surprise appearance at the end of Netflix's Love Per Square Foot, just like he did with Rajkumar Hirani's PKYear Ender 2019: 15 Best Moments From Your Fave Movies of the Year Featuring Ranveer Singh, Ayushmann Khurrana, Priyanka Chopra and More!

This year, there was a surprisingly less number of starry cameos, with quite a few of them either stuck in item songs (that's not eligible for this feature) or not leaving the right kind of impact. So searching for the diamonds in the rough, we came up with these seven cameos that we liked in 2019.

Vijay Raaz in Photograph

In Ritesh Batra's wonderfully understated love story set in in the old-world charm of Mumbai, Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays a photographer who takes pictures of tourists. He stays with a few other migrants in a shanty, and his fellow occupants often talk about a Tiwari who committed suicide and whose ghost supposed haunts the shanty.

Imagine our surprise when the ghost story turns out to be true and Vijay Raaz as Tiwari's ghost appears before the surprised protagonist one night, offering him a life-lesson in the process. While it isn't made sure if the ghost was real or it was just the photographer's imagination, it was a very surprising moment and Raaz surely steals the show in that brief time he is in. Year Ender 2019: From Netflix’s Soni to Salman Khan’s Notebook, 8 Underrated Bollywood Movies of the Year That Demand Your Love and Attention.

Sunny Singh in De De Pyaar De

Sunny Singh may not have a great year as a lead, but he does give one of the most hilarious cameos of the year, if not the most. In Akiv Ali's romcom, Sunny plays the clingy ex of Rakul Preet's character who refuses to entertain the idea that she had left him for good.

The way his character keeps on referring Ajay Devgn's as 'uncle', oblivious of the fact that his former girlfriend might be seeing this older man, is extremely amusing.

Tabu in Bharat

Tabu's involvement in Salman Khan's drama was a well-known fact before the release. So there was hardly any surprise when she appeared towards the fag end of Bharat, as the hero's long-lost sister. What makes her cameo so special is how emotional crafted the scene is where she appears.

Tabu in Bharat

It happens in the climax where thanks to a television project carried out by Bharat's girlfriend (Katrina Kaif), Bharat was able to find his sister, who has settled herself in London, and both break down on seeing each other while on video chat. While Tabu is, as always, excellent, even Salman surprises you with a good performance in the scene.

Aparshakti Khurana in Bala

Aparshakti Khurana's cameo in Bala is hardly for a few seconds; the man doesn't even have any dialogues. But it's the fun meta aspect about the special appearance that makes it worth this list. Aparshakti Khurana plays the new boyfriend of Bala's first love, who had ditched Bala after he starts balding.

Considering Bala is played by Ayushmann, who IRL is the bigger star, makes this casting quirky. Also, the fact that the girl chose someone closely resembling her former boyfriend but with hair makes it even more hilarious.

Dimple Kapadia in Dabangg 3

Chulbul Pandey's loving equation with his mother, amidst the hate he gets from his step-father and step-brother is what made the first Dabangg film better. Dimple Kapadia who played the mother, was quite graceful in the role, and her character's demise does leave a huge gaping hole in the franchise.

So it was quite nice to see her return in the threequel, during the flashback portions, even honing some of her underused comical skills. We can't wait to see what Christopher Nolan has offered Dimple in her upcoming Hollywood debut, Tenet.

Anil Kapoor in The Zoya Factor

In the book on which this Sonam Kapoor movie is based has Shah Rukh Khan has a cameo. Since the superstar gave 2019 a miss and was happier giving the voiceover. Enter papa dearest Anil Kapoor to fill in the void and giving us one of the best scenes in this perfectly okay film.

Sonam and Anil Kapoor

As a superstar high on his stardom, Anil Kapoor is completely jhakaas in the scene, with his comic timing clearly shining across. Wish the film had more such scenes, or perhaps, more Anil Kapoor in it.

Mohit Raina in Good Newwz

The Devon Ka Devon...Mahadev actor put up an impressive show in Bollywood film, Uri: The Surgical Strike that came out in January. Towards the end of the year, he put a surprising appearance in Good Newwz.

Mohit Raina and Kareena Kapoor in Good Newwz

In the scene, he appears as a co-passenger on a flight in which Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor's characters are travelling. The character turns out to be a fan of Kareena's, the way he asks for selfie while asking Akshay's character to not photobomb is quite funny.
