Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se Quick Movie Review: Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby Deol's Comedy Doesn't Deliver Much on the Laughs
Here's our quick movie review of Dharmendra, Bobby and Sunny Deol's Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se.
Dharmendra and his sons, Sunny and Bobby Deol, reunite for the third installment of the Yamla Pagla Deewana franchise. Directed by Punjabi film-maker Navaniat Singh, Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se is expected to revive the fortune of the series, after the debacle of the second film. There are also starry cameos from Salman Khan, Rekha, Sonakshi and Shatrughan Sinha to aid the cause. Our in-house critic Sreeju Sudhakaran is watching the movie and he has this to say about the first half -
"Sunny Deol plays an Ayurvedic doctor in Punjab, Vaid Pooran, who has in his possession a miraculous herb that could cure any ailment. A major medication company is looking to own the secret from Pooran but his dhai kilo Ka fist come in the way. Pooran's younger brother, Kaala (Bobby Deol), is a swindler looking for a better life in Canada. They are bothered by their long-time tenant, a lawyer with a roving eye Parmar (Dharmendra), who refuses to vacate the flat. Into their lives comes a doctor Chikoo (Kriti Kharbanda) with a twist that changes their lives.
The Deols share a warm chemistry between themselves and that Is the USP of the Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se. However, the humour, except for a A couple of jokes, is very cringe-worthy. The director tries to invoke laughs from the Punjabi and Gujarati tropes, which have been so done to death. I look forward to see if things improve in the second half, but seeing how things are progressing, don't have much hopes." Stay tuned with us for the full movie review.
