Emraan Hashmi's new film Why Cheat India, which is directed by Soumik Sen, has finally hit the theatres today but according to reports the film hasn't started off on a good note. In fact, the other two releases of the week - Arshad Warsi starrer Fraud Saiyaan and Govinda's Rangeela Raja, have also witnessed a disastrous opening. In the morning shows, all the three films have had below 10% occupancy in the cinema halls which is very disappointing especially for Emraan's film. Though Why Cheat India has garnered decent reviews from the critics so far, the film's opening is really worrisome. According to BoxOfficeIndia.com, Why Cheat India had a very dull opening of around 5% and will struggle at the box office to mint big moolah. The report further said, "The opening day figures could be one of the lowest for a recent Emraan Hashmi starrer and that too when the initials have not been too kind to him lately. There were a few other films like Bambairiya, Fraud Saiyaan and Rangeela Raja but these have not even found an audience."
As per BollywoodHungama, the new releases will have a tough time staying afloat at the ticket windows whereas Vicky Kaushal's Uri: The Surgical Strike and Ranveer Singh's Simmba will continue to dominate the box office over the weekend. Coming back to Why Cheat India, our in-house critic Sreeju Sudharkaran gave the film 3 stars out of 5 and wrote in his review, "Why Cheat India opens a window into the dreary corrupt practices that happen in the education system that should remain open. Fuelled by Emraan Hashmi and Shreya Dhanwantary's fine performances, Why Cheat India lures you with its realistic setting and a well-written lead character, making it an interesting watch."
