Be it slowly, but the industry folks are coming forward to support Tanushree Dutta, who has alleged that Nana Patekar harassed her on the sets of a film they were working on. Another name how supported Tanushree is, Kunal Kapoor. While his Rang De Basanti co-star Aamir Khan has shied away from making any statement, Kunal was more vocal than him on social media.
Kunal took to his Twitter handle and wrote, "Whether it's a man or a woman, just because someone is good at their work or charitable, doesn't mean they aren't capable of harrasement!!" This seems to be a jab at the people defending Nana Patekar arguing that he is a philanthropist. Kalki Koechlin, Shilpa Shetty Stand in Solidarity with Tanushree.
He also condemned Rakhi Sawant's press conference aimed at disclosing hidden reality. Kunal reacted to it by writing, "This is sickening"
Further retweeting an AD, who worked on the film set in question, corroborating Tanushree's story, Kunal wrote, "To all the people making stupid insinuations about a 'publicity stunt' there are now two very credible witnesses with the same story #TanushreeDutta"
Earlier Aamir was present at the trailer launch of his upcoming film, Thugs of Hindostan. The actor was asked to comment on the ongoing Tanushree Dutta-Nana Patekar controversy, he merely said, "Without knowing anything I cannot comment on this. But if something has happened, it is always sad and people should investigate."
Even worse was his Thugs co-star Amitabh's stand. He had said, "Neither is my name #TanushreeDutta nor #NanaPatekar, so I can't comment."
Tanushree, who bid adieu to Bollywood long time back, has claimed in a recent interview that she was sexually harassed by Nana Patekar on the sets of Horn Ok Please. She said, “People ask me why the #MeToo movement is not happening in India. That’s because when someone speaks up, they don’t get work. I spoke up 18 years ago; look what happened,” adding, “While Nana continued to work in films, I was slut-shamed and called unprofessional. When a woman speaks up, she is given different names and pulled down.”
