Was Depressed Kapil Sharma Provoked To Draw 'Violent' Reaction? COUNTERPOINT
Kapil showed remarkable courage to come up with a new show to regain his lost glory! And then this sorry episode happens!
Yes, he abused and it's not acceptable. Yes, he used filthy language to make us cringe with disgust (and to leave us shell-shocked!). He needs help! Oh, yus he definitely does, there's no denying that. Kapil Sharma is surely not in his right senses. But those who have listened to the tape carefully, where Kapil can be heard using the choicest of adjectives, while he is dealing with a media person, will definitely agree that the ace comedian is battling something really serious.
Right at the outset of that appalling conversation Kapil mentions, quite desperately, that he is really affected by the negative articles being written about him. Clearly, the bad press has taken a toll on him as indeed it has affected his mental hygiene. But one can also sense vulnerability in his voice when he goes: "Kyun likhte ho aap mere baare mein aisa? Maybe I am in depression ya phir mujhe koi physical problem ho sakti hai. Aapko Nahi pata mein kis daur se guzar raha hoon. (Why do you write such stuff about me? Maybe I am in depression or I have some other physical issues. You don't know the phase I am going through.) It's just that Kapil doesn't know how to handle himself right now.
No, don't get us wrong. We are not defending Kapil and the level he stooped to (and the language he employed) is unpardonable. It is apparent that the journalist involved uses his words mindfully. His tone is appropriate and he looks calm. Kapil on the other hand comes across as restless and eccentric. It is pertinent to note that Kapil starts the conversation on a rather polite note though as he desires to know why he has been getting the flak and also questions negative publicity. Hopelessness and helplessness in his voice is palpable.
Sharma seems to have been provoked by the bad press he has been receiving for his newly-minted show. It goes without saying that the barrage of questions he has been fielding for cancelling his shows (which has become a routine now) has irked Kapil. Suddenly Sharma adopts an angry tone and loses his cool mid-way the conversation which is an indication how feeble he is at the moment. What follows thereafter is a barrage of gaalis and toxicity that clearly reflects the man's state of mind.
His fans know that Kapil has gone through a lot (most of which is a part of his own karmic debt, even Kapil himself would agree). After showcasing his ugly arrogant side in real life, Kapil, it was argued, had taken his success for granted. A 12 day long rehab and a flurry of apologies later, the man bounced back with a new show titled Family Time With Kapil Sharma. Mind you, it's not easy to get your both professional and personal life back on track after hitting the proverbial purple patch of sorts. Kapil showed remarkable courage and conviction to come up with a new show to regain his lost glory. And now this sorry episode happens!
There's no conspiracy theory here. Neither does it look like that the provocation was exercised consciously on the part of the journo involved. But such is the state of Kapil's conscience, it seems, that he can get rattled even at the slightest provocation. Kapil also mentions quite categorically that he is annoyed with the constant negative articles being churned to get the much needed mileage which is sad.
In the same telephonic conversation we hear Kapil's close aid Gurjot who too seems irked . The aggression in his voice is unmistakable, but he also urges intermittently that Kapil can harm himself as he is dealing with issues. "Bhai please samjho ek baat," he pleads on the phone. Even Kapil's Lawyer Tanveer Nizam maintained in her interview with Bombay Times that there's no smoke without fire. "How can you harass a man who is under medication for anxiety issues? This is the same person who has brought smiles upon millions of faces. How can you tell him that he doesn’t even know English or question his upbringing. Misunderstandings need to be sorted out in a mature way. We have clear strategy to counter his defaming articles in a civil and criminal relief,” she states.
